It's definitely not my typical Mexican restaurant. But since I had a gift card I went here and used it. I got the birria of plate, fundido with chorizo, strawberry margarita, pina colada and the tamales plate. My daughter described it tamales plate is something different, she said the monster was a consistency of dessert like cheesecake. So she wasn't a fan of the masa, she only ate the chicken which was not placed inside the tamale but rather on top of the Masa. She did state it had good flavor. And I expected the video to be more juicy because from my understanding I believed birria was a saucy beef that's marinated. But nonetheless, everything tasted good. The salsa isn't spicy so I needed something a little bit more flavorful and spicy I believe the food is definitely catered to appeal to the majority of the people that patronize the place and live in the city. I'm just used to more flavorful Mexican restaurants. I would definitely drop back in for some dessert, drinks or appetizers. The drinks were perfect. I believe the tortillas are...
Read moreTonight was mine and my partners first time at Tortilla Real and we will definitely be back. The restaurant itself is so cute and cozy. Our waiter (I wish we had gotten his name) was so sweet and attentive. We shared the Frittas, Queso Fundido and Flautas. Perfect shareable portions and super delicious. I especially loved the flautas. They were so crispy and flavorful. For entrees we shared a fish taco, rice and beans and the birria plate. The Birria was phenomenal. The best I’ve had since my last trip to Mexico. It was so juicy and tender you could cut it with a fork. The fish was so light and expertly battered. We got the churros and tres leches cake for dessert. The churros were PERFECT! One of the best I’ve ever had. The flavor of the tres leches is excellent, but I do feel it was a little under soaked but that’s me being picky. A solid 5/5 across the board. I can’t wait to go back and try the chicken...

The drinks were fine, and the pico and guacamole tasted pretty good. That’s where our happy little lunch ended. Service was friendly but very slow.
It was all downhill from there.
The chips were very greasy - you can see the oil just shining on them (and on your fingers) in the sun. The queso dip was even worse: though the flavor was good, we wound up needing to skim the top layer of fat off using spoons.
The tacos were also underwhelming. Not a ton of flavor in any of the four we tried.
It’s extremely unlikely...
