If Hemingway lived in Petersburg, you would find him here.
My wife and I visited with some friends for wine and light eats. We ordered a featured bottle (Côte du Rhône) and a charcuterie board to share. All of the wine is natural, which has better flavor and more character than what you buy at the grocery store. With a cork fee, it is more economical to buy a bottle and drink it there than buy four individual glasses, so buy the bottle. If you don't finish it, you can always take it home. The charcuterie board offered a variety of quality delectables, along with a fresh baguette. A bottle and board split nicely between four persons. We also selected a lovely Pinto Noir from New Zealand for home. The wine selection is fantastic nodding to growing regions around the globe, including harder to find origins like Slovenia.
The atmosphere is that of a French-leaning European wine bar with a Petersburg twist. Walls are lined with art by locals and shelves containing books, arts supplies, and inevitably wine. Peruse a French travel guide or settle at a table to write or sketch. Don't know anything about wine? Grab one of the wine books and learn more about what you are drinking and where it comes from. Sink into one of the cozy antique chairs and start your own mini salon with a friend.
Burgundie's has a warm aesthetic. Balmy lights provide a soothing vibe combined with wood tones and a glorious copper bar. The furniture looks old without feeling old, lending to a sense that you are in a different time and place. It sounds like the Brian Ferry Orchestra, Agnes Obel, Ravel and Debussy.
Burgundie's is in my Petersburg top five list already and a must for anyone visiting our little town. Perfect for poets, artists, date-nights and discussion groups. Get into Petersburg and get out of Petersburg at...
Read moreBurgunddies is new to Petersburg, Virginia, as of this week. Was looking so forward to the opening and very pleased with our visit.
Great wine from all over the world. Burgundy is very particular with the type of wine she purchases and shares, but she can and will explain each in detail.
I highly recommend checking out this wine bar. It is very quaint, quiet, relaxing, and interesting. It's very different from your ordinary wineries and vineyards, allowing you to try new varietals.
Have been back to visit multiple times. Still enjoy visiting even to just say, 'Hi' and enjoy a sip of wine and/or...
Read moreBurgundie's is a true wine spot, something that was sorely lacking in Old Towne Petersburg. Not only does it fill the need, it does it with excellence and class! The wines are great, hand-picked from low-intervention wineries around the world. The bites, including fresh baguettes and amazing charcuterie boards, reflect the same dedication to care, excellence, and a top-notch experience. They have a generous, carefully curated selection of bottles at a variety of price points, all very reasonable. Definitely make Burgundie's a stop on your visit...
