24 years with Hilton. I don’t think I’ve ever been this disappointed, especially coming to a preservation. Overall, the building aspect is great. First I received the message we can’t give you a room right now when I made the res the night before. The next day before I even checked in, I get a text of how are things so far? I should have taken this as a sign of things to come. Valet is great, if valet doesn’t drive a stick, that’s fine too. But don’t charge me for parking. I got to my room to find a considerable „lube“ ring on the nightstand. It wasn’t facial moisturizer. How do I know? Because my hand ended up in it, as the phone was flashing a „message“ for me, which was also strange. Next room. Really wanted to shower after endless hours in the car and the lube experience. No shower gel in the shower, get out wet to dig out my little plane approved one. Go downstairs, front desk can’t find any but housekeeping tomorrow will get me some. Next day return after gone all day, no shower gel. Go to restaurant (which I had been looking forward to and blew off a family reunion bbq) told nope sorry shut down at 1900 after the people at the bar told me how good it was. Go to front desk to talk to a manager because alas! Downtown, well there isn’t anything, it’s empty, and who closes a hotel restaurant at 1900? No manager. Comes in tomorrow. Security is great though-the man who went to get his luggage, his wife had the keys and he couldn’t use the elevator, because you have to wave your keycard around. He was hungry too. Showed him how to use elevator. Don’t go down the stairs UNLESS you take a key card. You have to wave your card or you will be stuck in staircase. I thought I could walk down. Wrong. Why should you know this? Because I haven’t seen my aunt since 1979 and I just told her what beautiful place it is. I couldn’t wait to eat there. You shouldn’t check in and have to try to DoorDash, (i didn’t. I ate some tangerines and 3 day old croissant), clean the room you are paying for, nor dig around or beg for supplies. Now they are going to send the, „we are sorry we didn’t meet your expectations.“
NO. Business a does NOT run itself and this business clearly doesn’t get that. And that, is THE problem. Not my expectations.
I took my issues to corporate which is something I don’t do. However, you could have a really lousy wedding. YOUR reunion could be a tainted memory, and you can be looking for pizza from your room when you were looking forward to an experience that a hotel...
Read moreThis new hotel is really unexpected for Petersburg and, hands-down, the best hotel in or near the city. I’m hopeful it might be a start to some improvement to otherwise fairly dismal city. The tile has been very nicely renovated and is more upscale than it’s current pricing. It was a bit quiet when I was there on a Wednesday night, but that is to be expected in Petersburg. The street level bar and restaurant appeared to be quite nice and there were a number of people in there, but I did not try it out. The rooftop bar looks very nice and I got some pictures from the window leading out to it, but it was closed on Wednesday looks like it would be a great place to relax in Petersburg. The room was quite spacious, as was the bathroom. One odd thing that I’ve seen another reviewer mention is that the window to the bathroom is only partly clouded and the shower and bathroom is directly in view of the building across the street– very poor on privacy if there are any creeps in that building. (Also, something else someone commented on, the temperature setting can be a little bit difficult to figure out, as you may have to go into a menu or two to actually set the heating or cooling temperature you might want – it was cool in the room and I thought I was raising the temperature, but while it was not readily apparent, it was actually raising the A/C temperature and really doing nothing to help warm the room a bit.) the hotel is right in the heart of downtown, near a number of restaurants and right across the street from...
Read moreI was making the trek from Vermont to Florida with my mom and after 15 hours in the car we decided to stop. I found this property and it was relatively close to the highway as well as a Hilton property. We were tired when we arrived but were greeted but the very friendly front desk agent, I believe her name was Andrea? She was so lovely and peppy for 11pm and made us feel welcome right away. She gave us some info and we headed up t the room. When we got in the room was extremely hot and we instantly had to crank the AC, but honestly we were too tired to care. The room was huge and so was the bathroom, we were impressed with the size. The beds were comfy and we crashed right away and slept through the night. At check out the staff was again very kind as they wished us safe travels on our way out. ||The only real downside was the confusion on how to get in. We arrived just after 11pm and tried multiple doors which were locked. And while that makes sense it would have been nice if there was a song instructing us on what to do next like call the hotel or knock, hit a button, ect. Eventually someone (maybe the valet worker?) opened the door and let us in. Once I checked in and got instructions on the self parking I was surprised that this would cost an additional 10$ which was a bit of a bummer especially considering the walk. ||All in all it was exactly what we needed after a long day, the historic feel was a neat experience we...
