My wife and I had an amazing experience at The Brickhouse Run tonight. I had been wanting to give them a try for quite some time and I'm glad we finally went.

Outward appearances seemed on track with the traditional British pub that The Brickhouse Run is modeled after. When you enter, that vibe carries throughout the interior as well. It's not a huge restaurant, as you'd expect from the Old Towne Petersburg historic buildings. Half of the restaurant area is dedicated to the pub/bar and the other half for the dining room.

Hostess and waitstaff were very friendly and attentive during our entire experience. The menu had plenty to choose from with traditional British pub food like Bangers and Mash, Fish and Chips, etc. as well as interesting seasonal fare like Duck a l'orange and Acorn Squash with optional protein add-ons.

We started with the Sweet Potato Perogies which were essentially a savory sweet potato and cheese "mini pie", less like traditional perogies but definitely tasty. I then elected for the Duck a l'orange while my wife chose the Petersburger. I tried a bite of her burger which featured the typical lettuce, cheddar, and bacon but also a unique onion jam and pub sauce that really set it apart. It was delicious. My Duck a l'orange was perfectly cooked and amazingly tender and surrounded by a great sweet potato puree and a delectable helping of Brussels sprouts.

The experience was really amazing. If there were anything worth acknowledging as a downfall, it would have to be that the dining room was chilly. We ultimately chalked that up to the older building though. All in all, great date night spot and we'll...

What a delightful place to eat and drink. I was visiting from out of town and staying with a local friend. When we entered we were told there would be a half hour wait for a table so we gave them our phone number and went to take a walk downtown and grab a beer at another local, at a local brewery. Once we got the call we went back and were seated right away for our dinner. They're simple yet abundant menu included about a half dozen appetizers, another half dozen or so sandwiches and about 10 entrees to choose from. They also had a separate menu with specials of the day and special choices of daily beers and wine specials. My friend and I both decided to have their fried oysters for an appetizer and they were perfectly cooked and were delicious. We also each chose the flat iron steak, served with a blue cheese sauce. Our steaks were perfectly cooked to our choosing and the sauce went perfectly with the steak. Frites were served, along with a slightly peppery mixed bean saute. We chose a bottle of Malbec to have with our meal which was very reasonably priced and was delicious. We finished our meal with a cherry creme brulee. The service was outstanding The prices were very reasonable and it was a wonderful atmosphere to enjoy a long and leisurely dinner. I will...

The Brickhouse Run is by far our favorite restaurant in Old Towne Petersburg, VA. Our biggest problem is picking what we want to eat! Their standards include British and American pub classics, but they spice it up and offer seasonal dishes from around the world. If you are ever in the Petersburg, VA area, you need to give this place a try!! #petersburgva #hiddengemsva #steakfrites #porksouvlaki #datenight
