Nestled in the heart of Petosky, Palette Bistro stands as a beacon of culinary excellence, seamlessly blending an inviting ambiance with an innovative menu. My recent dining experience at this gem of a restaurant was nothing short of extraordinary, largely thanks to the impeccable service and delectable cuisine.

From the moment I stepped in, the warm, rustic decor set the tone for what promised to be an unforgettable evening. The atmosphere was both cozy and chic, a perfect blend that instantly made me feel at ease. However, it was our server, Andrew Hammond, who truly elevated the experience. Andrew's professionalism, attentiveness, and genuine passion for his craft shone through in every interaction. His knowledge of the menu was impressive, and his recommendations were spot on, enhancing our dining experience significantly.

For my main course, I opted for the Roasted Salmon Sandwich, a dish that exceeded all expectations. The salmon was perfectly cooked, boasting a crispy exterior while maintaining a tender, succulent center. It was nestled between slices of artisanal bread, which were toasted to perfection, adding a delightful crunch to each bite. The sandwich was complemented by a medley of fresh greens and a tangy aioli that provided a harmonious balance of flavors. Each mouthful was a testament to the chef's expertise and attention to detail.

The presentation of the dish was as impeccable as its taste, showcasing a vibrant palette that was almost too beautiful to eat. But eat I did, savoring every last bite of this culinary masterpiece. The accompanying side of hand-cut fries was equally delightful, crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside, rounding off the meal perfectly.

Palette Bistro is not just a restaurant; it's an experience, a journey through flavors and textures that leaves a lasting impression. The combination of exceptional service by Andrew Hammond and the outstanding Roasted Salmon Sandwich made my visit a memorable one. It's rare to find a dining establishment that excels in both service and cuisine, but Palette Bistro manages to do just that, setting a new standard for culinary excellence.

Whether you're a local or just passing through, Palette Bistro is a must-visit destination. It offers not only a meal but a celebration of food, prepared with passion and served with grace. I can't wait to return and explore more of their exquisite menu. Five stars,...

My wife and I recently got married in Petoskey and reserved the upstairs space at Palette Bistro for our rehearsal dinner and welcome drinks/appetizers the night before our wedding. We really could not have made a better choice than PB.

Planning: Kelly was great coordinating everything before the event and through the event itself. With all things going on with our wedding, we weren’t able to think through everything about the rehearsal dinner and welcome drinks but Kelly was great helping take a lot of the details off of our plate which was a huge help and relief for us. When we arrived for the dinner, everything was setup perfectly and our guests were already enjoying themselves.

Food: Yes, yes, and yes. We had roughly 40 guests for our rehearsal dinner and we understand the challenges of trying to serve that many people at the same time so you assume some dishes might not be exactly perfect. However, that was not the case at all with PB. All the food was absolutely delicious and our guests kept raving all weekend how good the food was at PB. Additionally, we had a quite a few guests who were vegetarians so PB offered an off menu vegetarian paella that those guests really enjoyed. Also the beef tenderloin was one of the best beef dishes we’ve had. The food was so good that we plan on making PB a “must stop” for lunch/dinner on all our future trips to Petoskey.

Staff: As I mentioned, Kelly was of course great but all the PB staff were rock stars the night of our event. We had a few guests with allergies and kids attending the dinner and the PB staff made sure everything went smoothly and they received the correct order. And even during welcome drinks, the PB staff handled the chaos of the larger crowd with grace and a smile. Everyone at PB was extremely friendly and welcoming which really contributed to a positive experience for all our guests.

In short, if you are looking for a spot for holding an event in Petoskey, we highly recommend Palette Bistro. All our guests had a phenomenal time at PB and we could not be happier with our experience. The food, the staff, and the setting are all fantastic and you cannot...

I recently visited Palette restaurant with high hopes, but unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. The service was undeniably terrible, and various issues throughout our meal made it impossible to enjoy our evening.

From the moment we sat down, we encountered problems. The napkin provided to us was inexplicably soaking wet, which was an unpleasant surprise. It set an unfortunate tone for the rest of the evening.

The real disappointment came when we ordered our appetizers, which took over an hour to arrive. When they finally did, we found them to be subpar, failing to meet even modest expectations. This lengthy wait and underwhelming quality greatly detracted from the overall dining experience.

To make matters worse, after deciding to try a different restaurant, settling the bill proved to be a significant challenge. Despite multiple attempts to get the attention of the staff, it took us a frustratingly long 30 minutes to receive our bill. Such a delay is simply unacceptable and reflects poorly on the establishment’s efficiency.

Regrettably, our table wasn’t the only one affected by subpar service. The nearby guests also had their fair share of problems. Their orders were incorrect, causing frustration and inconvenience. Furthermore, the lady’s entree arrived a half hour after her husband’s, compounding the dissatisfaction.

In summary, I cannot recommend Palette based on my recent visit. The combination of a soaking wet napkin, prolonged wait times for appetizers, difficulties with settling the bill, and the consistent mishaps experienced by neighboring guests made for an overall disappointing dining experience. I hope the management addresses these issues promptly to ensure better customer satisfaction...

We were on a holiday from Canada in nearby Boyne Mountain. And decided to check out the scenic town of Petoskey. Walking around the Gaslight District seeking a place to have dinner on a Sunday evening, we came across this place. Situated in a quiet street overlooking the Bay, we walked in with some trepidation - not expecting to get a table without any reservation. The staff was good enough to seat in 15 minutes. We were hoping to be seated next to one of the big windows overlooking the Bay we were disappointed. The menu looked very appealing. And, to make it more economical, they had the option of a Small Plate v/s Large Plate which (I think) offered a lot of value for money. Clearly this place seemed to be for wine lovers, as opposed to beer lovers like us. The choice of wine seemed to be eclectic but we got some good local craft beer to taste. The food was well crafted with great presentation on the plate. The texture was good and the taste immensely satisfying. The portion was good enough for a fulfilling meal. Despite the multi level layout and a skinny staff, we were served pretty quick. Even though the restaurant was pretty full. Overall this was clearly an enjoyable dinner. If ever we visited Petoskey again the Pallette Bistro is one place we would definitely try again.

We went for brunch. There were five us us. We were seated promptly, drink orders went smoothly. Cocktails and orange juice were great. When it came time to order, I asked if I could get the eggs Benedict with fried egg, instead of poached (I don’t do runny yolks). The waitress told me no, they couldn’t do that. That’s how I order it at all of the other local restaurants, with no issues. So, I ordered the frittata. It was burned, as you can see in the photo. My friend ordered the sweet potato hash. It was basically a bowl of $15 broccoli soup, with sweet potatoes and peas. It was delicious. But, the menu clearly states that it comes with pork, fried egg and sour cream. We asked our waitress and she said it’s all ground up in the soup. Why have the menu state a “fried egg” or “pork”? We were very confused. Maybe it’s should say “pork, egg and sour cream broth”’. Our waitress left us perplexed multiple times during our visit. Maybe she was having an off day. As always, the view is great and we try Palette every now and again. Probably won’t do brunch again. The happy hour is our favorite. Forest floor soup and baked feta are always amazing.
