Extremely rude and combative management -- the assistant manager here is totally unprofessional.
We encountered an issue after receiving an order during late morning rush (we received entirely the wrong drink). This is a small item that happens from time to time everywhere, but when we immediately went back in to address the discrepancy, the line was out the door and the staff members were frantically making orders. Coming from hospitality industry and appreciating what these rushes can be like, we went to lunch and decided to come back later when it was less busy.
A few hours later we came back, explained the situation to your assistant manager and politely requested a remake, the assistant manager refused and proceeded to argue with me. This exchange held up the line for over ten minutes, causing inconvenience to myself and more than a dozen other customers who were voicing frustration.
As a regular customer who has always enjoyed the quality and service when this was Populace coffee, this experience was quite disappointing. My hope this information can be used to improve future customer interactions and can serve as a coaching & teaching opportunity for the Assistant manager.

Read moreWe made a special trip on our way home from Traverse City, and were glad we did. On an early, overcast morning, this cozy spot was already very popular. Clean, simple, modern design - the typical white tile and light wood furnishings tucked in on a charming lifestyle side street just a couple blocks from the lake. They were brewing Madcap's Third Coast Blend for espresso. Our latte and espresso were excellent, and the pour over very bright and good. One of the better pour overs we've had in a while. The service was excellent, surpassed only by the pastries - from a lovely selection, we went with the morning bun and butter cake (what's not to love?). Yes, it was a little $$, but for the quality of products and service, definitely worth it. Hopefully enough caffeine to sustain us for the 10 hour...
Read moreMy wife and I were on vacation with our 8 month old son and one of our favorite things to do is to check out local coffee shops.
Our coffees were awesome, so awesome in fact that our 8 month decided he wanted to spill it all over himself! Anyone with a kid knows the embarrassment when this happens but we cleaned up the mess and just split the remaining coffee. When the barista realized what happened she immediately offered to remake the spilled coffee at no cost! I didn't get her name but she said "you paid for the experience and I want you to enjoy it".
The baristas here are top notch, excellent customer service and they made our day.
Thank you for a great experience! We will definitely return! (Hopefully with a less...
