Me and my friend went here last night, first time for me ever and first time for him in a while. After the experience you bet I am not returning for a long time. It was okay at first, basic dining experience. Where we were sat wasn't the best, it was in the middle of the isle where people were constantly coming past us, and our table was even bumped a few times because of it. It was also off balance so my friend had to basically hold it with his foot so it wouldn't knock our drinks off. Not to mention, we were sat next to a glass window where we could see the reflection of the kitchen, and we watched a kitchen staff hit their vape right in the kitchen..đŹ how professional.. We ordered our food, our server was nice and seemed okay at first. I ordered spaghetti with marinara sauce, my friend ordered an olive burger. We then waited about 15-20 minutes. She brought out our food, his was right but mine was a sandwich and fries?? Completely off, but it's fine we get it, things happen. We weren't rude about it at all, I just laughed and said I would eat some of his fries while we waited. We waited an extra 10ish minutes. Got my food, and everything was perfectly fine. She checked in on us once while we were eating.
So we proceeded to get our check, and since we both had cash decided to make it easier for her and put it all on one. It was about $47 all together and we gave her a $7 tip. We were getting ready to leave and she comes back and tries to give us our change back. We were confused cause we just told her to keep it, and when my friend asked she said "In the industry 20% is standard tip" so basically wanted us to give her extra money. I didn't have any more cash on me, and neither did my friend and he said that. She scoffed like a child slammed the book shut, and just in the most selfish tone said something along the lines of have a good night.
Now as someone who has been in the restaurant business my whole life, literally and has served for years I would NEVER do that. That is beyond childish and selfish, and if you act like that you should not be a server, or anyone that feels entitled to other people's money. First off standard tip is NOT 20%, it is 15% which we gave her, because she gave us average service, so she gets an average tip. 20% is when you have above average service which we didn't have, she literally messed up my order and I had to wait longer for it. And as someone who has had many people tell me "You were a great server, but I can't tip you at all" I would never even THINK of saying this to someone. I'm grateful for any tip I got, especially now days. It's a huge reason to why I have decided to lean off serving for now as relying on tips now days isn't reliable. But it's absolutely UNACCEPTABLE what she did. I would've maybe understood her if our bill was much higher, and we were high maintenance. But it wasn't, and we weren't. It's ridiculous how people act, so entitled and selfish. Again, as a server I put myself in her shoes and thought that it was a fair tip. If I was her, I would've been very happy with the tip. To be honest if it would've clicked for me sooner, I would've just said "Fine you don't like our tip you get no tip" and would've left with my money. Because I could've bought something with that tip money instead of putting it towards someone as ungrateful as her. Again, I won't be returning for a long time, and knowing me I won't return till I know she's gone because I don't wanna ever have her as my server again. I never thought I would ever be out in this position as I served for years and always put myself in the servers shoes to be fair, even if it hurts MY pockets. And how unprofessional you guys are, it's disappointing because I had high expectations. Shame...
Read moreLast night I went too Duffyâs for dinner with a friend of mine. This was her first time there & my first time visiting Duffyâs in about a year, but after this experience I donât think Iâll be visiting again anytime soon. First off we got placed at a table that was in the main hallway so servers & customers were walking by constantly & the table wasnât balanced properly so I had to make sure I kept one foot on the bottom rail so our drinks didnât spill. We then ordered & our server seemed nice at first. Once our food came, the waitress brought my friend the wrong dish, she asked for spaghetti & got some sort of sandwich. so we sent it back and had to wait another 5-10 minutes for the food she ordered. The food was solid but once it came time to pay our bill we just decided to throw it all on one. The bill was $47 & we tipped $7. My friend was a server before so her & I thought in the moment it was fair as it felt like average service with a bad table so $7 felt fair. As we were getting our coats on and leaving the server came back & stopped us to give me our change back saying âthe industry standard is 20% for a tipâ and was basically asking me for at least $10. I didnât fully understand it at first but once I realized what she was saying I said no I donât have a lot of cash left & she then gave us a dirty look & proceeded to slam the server book our bill was in on the table next to us & walked off. Had customers looking at us & I was just so confused in the moment why we deserved that.
Just to round it all up here, food was good but felt over priced for the quality. Service was average until the end where I felt that was completely unprofessional of her & personally will not return if thatâs how they treat...
Read moreTerrible place. Really over priced. I was expecting to pay more because it is a tourist place, but was expecting to at least get decent food. Food was passable. Our salad was cheap cheap cheap. The menu says mixed greens, but all we got was chopped iceberg. For $14 a salad should offer more than 2 slivers of tomato, and three slices of onion. I can make a better salad, for much less. The pizza was huge but wasn't place on a pizza plate. Apparently the restaurant has only one pizza cutter, so when we wanted to cut our slices smaller, we were denied that. Tried to split our pizza, so we were double charged for items. Waitress never bothered to inform us, or we would have chosen items everyone liked for the the whole pizza. She claimed items that were only on half of the pizza were the amount that would go on a whole pizza. So three slices of green pepper is apparently all that goes on a whole pizza.
Our waitress was so STUPID it was amazing she could walk and talk. She was constantly making excuses about why she didn't do something or another. Someone borrowed this, or she had to do something else. Never refilled some of our drinks, which were over priced. She screwed up our bill so much it took three people and a half an hour to figure out what she did. Did that mean we got a discount or anything, NOPE!!! She was terrible. The food was barely passable. And the prices were outrageous.
If you can avoid it, AVOID THIS PLACE. They are in business only to screw over...
