It will be an absolute shock to me if this place survives more then one calender year from now!
Qualification for why this place is terrible in comparison:
I've eaten at literally every restaurant in Petoskey/harbor & surroundings. From holes in the wall with microwave hotdogs, to osso bucco ( my favorite dish)
The setting gives off a non welcoming, underwhelming bland decor feel. Unlike any other restaurant in Petoskey. The menu gives off an elitist, wing tip shoe, downtown Manhattan vibe.
And the food simply falls short on EVERY note possible, from portion, to seasoning, to presentation. You will absolutely feel you overpaid for a no love in the kitchen dish. Most people that review restaurants on Google are used to the occasional splurge and are happy with a dish that's unburnt and has a fancy name, and a menu without decimals... But if you actually eat at multiple restaurants monthly and appreciate "good" food keep reading.
It's laughable in such a bland environment 2 people spend well over $40 on a tasteless lunch that just leaves you wanting to stop other people from walking in the door and getting took as you just did.
I have actually overheard out of Towner's ( probably the only customers left) talking about going here and spoke up to save Petoskey's dining reputation. I'd feel terrible letting someone go here unknowingly, simply because I'd feel they'd lose faith in testing other places downtown. It is simply that bad.
Simply put. EAT...
Read moreWe walked in with a stroller and were quickly told they had a "no stroller policy" because of the size of the restaurant. The extreme way the staff reacted made it seem like we had done something wrong. To the point that other customers spoke to us about how the staff addressed us. A no stroller policy is fine, but make a sign and save everyone the time and frustration. In addition to us, we watched the same staff member intercept countless customers telling them to wait outside for him to greet them. Maybe it's time for a hostess stand?
When sitting down to eat we informed our server one of us has a nut allergy. When we asked if the pancakes contained nuts, she informed us that they use nuts in the kitchen and replied "we're not shutting down the kitchen to sanitize". I never asked for that. I've been to countless restaurants that are more than willing to inform kitchen staff of an allergy to keep everyone safe.
Overall the food wasn't bad, though it's overpriced. The bacon, hash browns, and english muffin were fantastic. The eggs and pancake were standard. There's not many choices when it comes to breakfast in downtown Petoskey, but be prepared for the possibility...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Sam’s Graces Café, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The highlight of my meal was undoubtedly the Eggs Benedict with Plath’s ham. The combination of the savory, high-quality ham with the perfectly poached eggs was a delight. What truly set this dish apart was the house-made English muffin – it was fresh, perfectly toasted, and provided the ideal base for the rich hollandaise sauce. Each bite was a harmonious blend of flavors and textures.
To top off the meal, I indulged in their French Apple Cake, served with softly sweet whipped cream. The cake was moist, spiced just right, and had the perfect amount of apple pieces throughout. The whipped cream added a light, sweet touch that complemented the cake wonderfully without overpowering it.
Overall, Sam’s Graces Café offers a dining experience that combines top-notch ingredients with meticulous preparation. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable meal. I can’t wait to return and try more of their...
