Went into Tap 30 about 4:30 on a Thursday afternoon with my wife and planned on spending a few hours, having drinks and dinner. Started out at the bar, trying to talk to the bartender and get some information and his opinion about some of the beers. Bartender was disinterested and either didn’t know about the beers or had no interest in talking to us about the beers. We ordered two drinks and then moved to a table near the open window at the front of the bar. After sitting at the table for 5 minutes, a waitress came to the table and asked if anyone was joining us. After telling her no, she told us that we would have to move to another table because it was their policy not to allow a party of 2 to sit at a 6 top table. There were a total of 5 customers in the bar at the time. If the bar was busy or the waitress told us that they may need us to move later, if the bar got busier and they needed our table for a larger group, we would have understood and gladly moved. When a different waitress came to our new table and asked if we wanted menus and we told her no because the other waitress rudely told us we had to move to another table in an empty bar, we overheard her tell the first waitress what we said and we heard the first waitress loudly say, “I don’t care, it’s not my policy.” We finished our drinks, went next door to Pour and spent $140 on drinks and food over the next few hours and left a $40 tip. Had a wonderful evening at Pour, so I guess the rude staff at Tap 30 actually...
Read moreOur experience was similar to the last post. We went there yesterday afternoon to watch the final round of 100th PGA Championship, which they had on both of there bigs screens. With only 3 holes remaining, we asked the staff if they could turn down the music and turn up the volume on the TVs. Seemed like a logical request since a majority of the people in the restaurant had their eyes glued on the TVs watching what was one of the greatest finishes of the PGA in quite some time.
Our waiter told us that the bar tender wouldn’t let them do it. Apparently at this establishment, the bar tender is king and has control over everything. So I politely asked the bar tender if he could turn down the EDM (Electronic Dance Music) he was playing and if we could listen to the TVs. His response was “I can’t change the vibe of this place just because you want to listen to the TVs”. I told him to look around and pay attention to your clients who are ALL watching the golf tournament, of which none of them were of the age group to enjoy EDM.
He never budged. The rest of the wait staff was very apologetic, and said if it was up to them, they would change it. It’s too bad, because I frequent Petoskey a lot and like this bar, but will never return because a young immature bar tender was having a “power trip” moment and wouldn’t cater to his clients, just to show he was in charge. Bravo son... you proved your point and showed that the customer never...
Read moreCan’t speak to the food, but I stopped in with my girlfriend just to grab a drink. Right as we walked in, we were hit with a rude “You can’t have a dog in here,” complete with an eye roll and attitude, without the woman even bothering to look or notice that my girlfriend’s dog is a service animal. When my girlfriend politely said, “She’s a service dog,” the response we got was a sarcastic “whatever,” another eye roll, and a dramatic hands-in-the-air moment. We headed to the bar anyway, and when we asked who that was, the bartender told us it was actually the GM. While we were trying to look over the beer menu, we kept getting more of the same attitude, impatience, more eye rolls, and just generally not a great vibe. To top it all off, we then overheard the GM talking to another couple and saying, “That’s not a service dog,” clearly referring to us. I’m not sure if she knows the laws around service animals, but someone definitely should fill her in. Overall, I really wouldn’t recommend this place based on the service alone. Maybe the food is okay, but honestly, that kind of treatment makes it hard to care enough to come back...
