First off this is not to discourage anyone owners or customers every one has there off days and I’m sure last night was KingsnQueens night and this was just my experience has a first time customer the waiting time for the food is absolutely ridiculous got there 7.45 pm ordered my food by phone 7.30 pm got my food 8.35 pm, and no one should be waiting this long on food that is already cooked. When I got there for my food, we ordered two more plates, two curry goats, one oxtail. My original order was mistakenly given to someone else. Things happened. That’s fine, no biggie. They made it right by giving me two types of meat jerk chicken and curry chicken, then my husband plate should have been a curry goat as well they miscalculated how much meat they had, so hubby did not get any goat they apologized made his plate with two types of meat oxtail and jerk chicken and gave us a sorrel drink, my son’s plate was fine he ordered oxtail ok even though I waiting sooooooooooooooo long on the orders and the mix up with the orders that were ok things happen we got to our vehicle decided just to go ahead and eat our food in the car because we were so hungry tasted the rice I was like okay this is good ‘Shelly and nice ‘ got to the jerk chicken first bite salty,I’m like that section had a little extra salt took another bite tooooooooooooo much salt the whole chicken leg 3 of them it was like someone emptied an entire bottle of salt on the chickens and serve then ,so I tried hubby’s chicken same thing toooooooooooooooo salty we threw it away they gave us a lot has to say sorry for the wait and mixup,of your order. The oxtail was ok my son enjoyed his plate but for hubby and I we were disappointed we ate the rice because it was good plantains and veggies yummy but the meats I was very very very disappointed I paid $64.00 and I believe that I absolutely did not get my...
Read moreSo as a Guyanese person who grew up with some of the best Caribbean food in Toronto, NYC, and Miami, I go IN on Caribbean places.
I really wanted to love this place. I did order this as a delivery w/ side of jerk chicken (been disappointed too many times by different places to get a main), oxtails, beef patty, and coco bread
I definitely think y'all pulled your punches on the jerk. Where were the scotch bonnets? I love that it was grilled, but the dark meat I got was almost dry. It was good don't get me wrong, but it needed more kick. At least have a hot sauce for folks who want it kicked up a notch.
The patty...was definitely bought frozen. The meat inside was more like a paste. Also didn't have meat going to the edges, just a thin kind of off-brown ooze. There are good frozen patties out there! This was not one of them.
On to one of the highlights—oxtails. These were small, but cooked down well. Flavours were good, but a little salty for me. Also, for some reason built up more spice than the jerk lol.
Rice and peas were fine, and the cabbage was way too oily. Not sure what happened there. It may be cooked on a flat top with oil already.
Coco bread was OK. Not as fluffy as I'd like. Had the little bit of sweetness, though.
That said, I do want to leave y'all with something—there is love in your food. I can taste it.
However, it feels like your food is catering toward an audience that may be less familiar with it. Don't pull your punches on flavour. I'm hopeful I'll come back to this review...
