Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Phenix City

I came in after a long days work looking to just enjoy a beer with my girlfriend and have some food. well the hostess layla was very rude from the door. she had an attitude for no reason even after me and my girlfriend were nice to her and offered to just sit at the bar. she was very rude in how she spoke to us and kept cutting us off every time we spoke and was conducting herself in a very unprofessional manner. she ignored me when I asked what there appetizers were and if they had any day-specific specials. She then went on to go on her phone and text people while we sat there and waited even tho there were open tables and open space at the bar for which she said we couldn’t sit at. She then went to tell my girlfriend how she was planning on making a story up about one of the customers there saying they were “bothering” and “distracting” her from her work even tho from my point of view he was minding his buisness talking to the bartender and a little boy with who he was playing a game with. I watched the whole situation play out and it was all uncalled for and based on a lie. my experience here left a very foul taste in my mouth and the professionalism and customer service/hospitality was very poor if not below par. I highly recommend you don’t eat here if this is you’re only option cause from what it seems you’re going to be forced to leave due to someone’s lack of professionalism and pettiness and significance of immaturity. the worst part about all of this is that my girlfriend was in the bathroom at the same time as her and she didn’t even wash her hands. Tonight was the 2nd and last time I’ll attempt carside to go. The first time was an order of over $50, the only thing that wasn’t messed up was the app. Tonight, same exact thing, it’s probably because it’s nearly impossible to mess up cheese sticks if not for that I’m sure they would’ve messed that up too. Also, the order that was supposed to take 25 minutes took 55 minutes. Which can be understood if it was a one time occurrence. The fiesta lime chicken had no sauce, what tasted like uncooked rice, and was burnt on both sides (I guess that’s why it took so long). The fish & chips was more like extra crispy chips(the fish) that could break glass. The bourbon street chicken & shrimp would’ve been okay if the chicken wasn’t, you guessed it, burnt on both sides. On a positive note, the garlic mashed potatoes were great, and the mozz sticks were great once we reheated them. But to top it alllll off, the only reason I’m leaving this review is because when I called to give them a chance to correct this mistake after letting it go the first time it happened, I got hung up on after waiting for 6 minutes, I know not long but the second time I attempted to call the same thing happened, waited for almost 10 minutes just to hung up on again. Came for the buy steak entree add shrimp for $1 special. I got the Bourbon Street steak with garlic mashed potatoes and mushrooms & onions with Extra Mushrooms.

Ordered online and it took longer than I had expected to fill out all the account creation information but, nonetheless, order was successful. After the order was placed, it took about 20 minutes to deliver curbside and that is pretty much same time as projected at order.

I requested and paid a premium for extra mushrooms but I cannot say for sure if the amount was indeed 'extra' but I was satisfied. There was more than enough food for myself and kiddo.

My steak was cooked to specification and arrived hot. The shape of the takeout container did not allow for separation of sides so everything was saturated in steak juice but it was not a problem for me. Flavorful and juicy.

The shrimp were battered and fried and I gave them to my child because shrimp is her favorite thing. She didn't really like these because the extra crunchy texture was different than she is used to but children are fickle creatures. I ate one and it tasted fine.

I did not order drinks because we always bring our own. I rounded my total up to $20 and for two people.

I would DEFINITELY get the Bourbon Street...
