Alex's Pizza — Restaurant in Philadelphia

We got the caprese pizza and some garlic knots to try this place out. The garlic knots were tasty - the garlic herb mix came off as fresh and the knots were a nice texture. There was mixed opinion about the caprese but as a matter of taste not quality. Everyone agreed the crust had a nice chew and flavor, and the cheese was fresh and tasty as was the diced tomato on top. One member of the household thought it would be improved with some basalmic glaze and there is extra side sauce available for $1 noted as “basalmic” so we’ll perhaps try that next time - although not sure if that’s just vinegar or actual glaze. Another member of the household did not like that the arugula was baked into the pizza rather than fresh on top but the rest of us liked it. Alex's Pizza is a small family owned corner pizzaria within Roxborough. We ordered online for pick up as there isn't a dine in option. Our pizza was fresh out of the oven when we arrived. We got a large pepperoni pizza with a side of sauce. The pizza was thin crust; nice and crispy. There was a generous amount of sauce on the pie compared to a lot of other pizzarias these days. The sauce on the pie was a little sweet but was not overpowering. The pepperoni were smaller rounds but they were cut thicker to still have a nice bite. The side of sauce that we also ordered was a little saltier than how it tasted when on the pie.

Overall the pizza was delicious, just a tad greasy, but what good pizza doesn't have some grease on top of each slice. We will definitely be ordering...

First time having Alex's Pizza and it was excellent! Saw them on Instagram and added them to the long list of pizza shops in the area we want to try. Little corner shop that is take out only. Definitely a legit old school pizza place that had a face-lift last year (from what I read). Staff was friendly when we walked in to order (as we didn't know if dine in was an option). In 15 minutes we had our original piping hot large pie. A 30 minute ride home and it was that perfect cooled down temp ready to eat. Thinner crust that's crispy at the edges, good cheese to sauce ratio, sauce has a good flavor, and an overall lightweight pizza that doesnt make you feel like "bleh" after eating 3 slices.
