I was excited to hear that a Columbian bakery opened near my home. There's nothing better than starting your day with a great cup of Columbian coffee and some fresh pastries. This experience was disappointing from the very beginning. Upon walking in the atmosphere gave stale pizza shop. The empanadas and sauces lack the flavor you would expect from a Columbian bakery or any Latin food. The exterior crust of the empanadas was crispy as expected. However, when you bite into it, your mouth is filled with the taste of un-seasoned meat and very lightly seasoned potatoes. Have you ever tasted un-seasoned boild chicken or beef? I think i have now! Then you think, maybe the sauce will help. But that just leads to more disappointment. The sauces have a robust aroma, but we're looking for good food, not cologne. Branding yourself as a bakery would lead people to believe you serve fresh, warm breads and pastries. However, you're greeted with cold pandebono with a strong sour taste, so I could only tolerate 1 bite. The coffee was brewed too light, and if you like your coffee warm, you have to drink it within 15 minutes or it'll be cold. I've never seen my teen daughter turn down any food, but she could only force herself to eat 1 empanada and 1 bite of pandebono, then encouraged me to throw the rest in the trash. This place lacked the smell of fresh made anything, so I'm sure it's not actually fresh. I think it's worth taking the extra 15-minute drive to Cafe Tinto. They've remained consistently good the past few years I've been...
Read moreThis place does not have a menu of prices. They dont like to be asked what is the price for the items they sell. They do not know the prices themselves. They do not provide an itemized receipt of the sale. They can easily over charge you whatever they want without you knowing if you don't ask for prices. There is another bakery on castor avenue that does the same (i stopped going there) and they over charge. This is unacceptable!!! It is dishonest! By law if you sell food you must display the prices to customers.
To your response Mr/Mrs oenerâ please read the message again. I never accused your business to over charge but to leave the door open to it. It just honest business when you display prices to prospect customers rather than having ask the entire crew what is the price of a single item. You are the business owner, you need to be responsible for this. List the prices for the items and services you offer. That does not require training. That is just simple honest business. You do not list prices for the goods offered. That...
Read moreI love this place and besides the food being delicious, the environment is great. Every person behind the counter is kind and friendly even during the rush time when it feels like ordered chaos.
The food is delicious and even better than some of the more well known Colombian bakeries in the NE. I've eaten most of their pastries though our go to is always some buñuelos, a picada, and a few empanadas de pollo y carne with the green garlic sauce. There is a small empanada called a empanada cambray, that has cheese and guayaba and is delicious!! A hot coffee here is also always a good option but if you need to remain caffeine free, I highly recommend...
