I had a bad experience before with a takeout order from here, but I gave them another shot and it was...edible.
The restaurant is a 5 minute drive from my house. Today, after arguing with myself as to what and where I wanted to eat, I decided I wanted something fast and close by, so I figured I'd give them one last try, I don't believe I have eaten here in 2 years. Well, nothing has changed.
First, most importantly, I was mildy ill from the General Tso's chicken. I felt fine prior to eating it, then felt mildly nauseous, tired and some stomach discomfort. Foremost, I was..."retasting", if you will, the General Tso's, a key indicator that it did not agree with me.
As for the food itself: The General Tso's did not appear to be freshly made. Usually, "fresh" General Tso's has a bright reddish-orange color and a shiney glaze like appearance. This dish appeared dull, soggy, and kind of thrown into a pile, with no steam coming from it as if it were simply reheated and thrown into a carton. The dish, if fresh and cooked properly, usually has a slight crisp or crunch when eating it. This, was soggy and had the texture of soggy bread. It had some flavor, but nothing worth expounding on, suffice to say canned soup in my cupboard is more appealing.
The chicken fried rice also did not appear fresh. It was rather lumped together, and had a dark brown color to it, another indicator of rice that has been reheated. The egg roll would have been the minor saving grace here, but they forgot to include Duck sauce...so I ate a plain egg roll, which is like eating buffalo wings without buffalo sauce. Lastly, as far as service, the person who took the order was as engaging as a burnt fuse. (I get it, there is a language barrier.) But, at least you can tell me the price of the order and how long it will be. He asked, "anything else?, and I replied "No" and he said, "Thank You" and hung up. Apart from no Duck sauce or Soy sauce, they put 1...yes 1...of those small square napkins that you see in the dispensers on counters in diner's in the bag. YOU CAN'T WIPE UP A COFFEE RING WITH 1 OF THEM. 1 NAPKIN? REALLY?.
So I am done. The first experience was bad, so I gave them a second chance...and they kinda redeemed themselves, and if I did not want something closeby and quick, they never would have gotten a third shot. The China Moon chapter in my takeout...
Read moreI agree with the other person. If I'm eating Chinese food, in getting out from here. Other places taste bland or raw dough like.
6 years ago and here I am today. going through and starving from being on the road. Good old china moon.
But then this happened.... apparently right after calling ahead my order, my phone went all Houdini on me. Big old moving truck filled with my mess to leave behind, in a dark truck cabin, my black phone (that would likely not do well as a paperweight) got a sense of humor.
Having not physically left the truck till my arrival. At least I knew it was there somewhere.
3 strangers in the parking lot, to each other and me, tried to help as well. One calling my quiet now phone that was ringing still on her end. one on the phone with my useless as well, carrier and and supervising and advising. 😒 but there as a participant just the same.
The woman left after she said putting through just my numbers, (not my 1st rodeo) and stating they'd not gone through.
And me not able to transfer funds. Well of course. Soon she passed us going home for the night. Finally having to go himself we hung up on the metro story weaver and I tipped this above helpful delivery man 2 packs of tastykskes. (trained well with 6 grandsons so far)
soon after shredding everything possible, I went back in with my phone. She had made a human error and put them in incorrectly, things happen.
But then I get the gur kick, throat punch from me China Moon . they'd long ago ?? thrown it out.
well, truth be known, probably could afford to have it anyway.
I couldn't imagine under what circumstances I'd do this ever, other then not ever.
That'll teach me to wait till later to eat something..
Let me get out of this rain, and keep heading south. What another 700 or so miles when you have man's inhumanity to...
Read moreDelivery driver is always friendly and professional so I have nothing bad to say in regards to delivery service.. I haven't ever had a issue with any food and would definitely consider this being the go to Chinese restaurant for this area, however I wouldn't make a special trip or go to far out of my way if I weren't within the general delivery area. NOW THE ONLY PROBLEM I HAVE, WHICH I DO CONSIDER TO BE PRETTY SIGNIFICANT, ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS REALLY ANYTIME I'VE TRIED BETWEEN 9:35PM AND 10:00PM (5-6 TIMES) AND IS THE MAIN REASON I REVISED MY ORIGINAL REVIEW AND WILL ONLY GIVE THEM 1 STAR FOR SERVICE IS FOR THIS VERY SIMPLE REASON IF YOU CLOSE AT 10:00PM THEN YOU SHOULD STILL BE OPEN AND TAKING ORDERS AT 9: to IS IF ANY EARLIER THEN 10:00PM OR WHATEVER THE POSTED CLOSE TIME IS!!! Updated* Just recently I was able to order at 9:40pm and they delivered it right before 10pm...
