This will be a fair and modest review...Jordan Johnson's Gourmet seafood is completely and utterly one of the finest seafood dining experiences I've had in a very long time.
Let's begin with the menu and food. The menu is varied but not to the point where it becomes overwhelming. It has two pages, front and back, with numerous choices of seafood, poultry, and meat.
I ordered the honey buffalo shrimp for an appetizer and followed it up with the curry salmon. I do not say this lightly but... They were both extremely good!!!
The honey buffalo shrimp came out on a beautiful display with a good portion of shrimp for the $9 you spend. They were expertly battered with just the right amount of crispy and perfectly basted with that tangy sweet and spicy sauce. I could see that in the fried batter there was seasoning as well which really turned on my appetite further. The blue cheese they provided was definitely home made from scratch as well and provided the right kind of cool to the spicy dish. And the shrimp were fresh and plump, big and juicy, and somehow the batter and sauce accentuated the natural shrimp flavor. It was so good in fact, I had a flash back to Bubba from Forest Gump where he lists all the types of shrimp dishes, and I'm pretty sure he would be proud of this place, or maybe even jealous lol
For the main entree, I ordered the curry salmon. Boy, oh boy, was that delicious!!! The sauce was the perfect kind of creamy seasoned blend. The vegetable fried rice was compacted into a separate portion of the plate into a neat circular mound with an edible flower on top that made the presentation look excellent.
The vegetable fried rice is not ordinary. I found taste the sesame seed oil, the star anise, the ginger and other Caribbean spices which brought out the flavor and the rice was definitely cooked with butter, making it have a fuller flavor. The rice was perfectly sticky too which I absolutely love when it comes to my rice...
Last but not least, the service was excellent. Our waitress (please forgive me for not remembering her name) was very attentive, accommodating, patient and polite. When ordering, we didn't feel like we were rushed and she made sure that we understood the menu. We even had the manager (Maria) come to our table a few times and she was so nice! Made us feel very welcome and taken care of and even laughed at my corny jokes lol.
The only negative I had was that the positioning of the tables was a little weird, because there was this massive open space in front of the bar that could have been used, but everything was pushed off to the side, but maybe it turns into a dance floor at a later hour.
In summary, don't sleep in this place. The food and service is REALLY good and I recommend it to anyone else that is serious...
Read morearrived with my sister wanted to sit and eat at the booth as the other tables are very small and uncomfortable, was advised those have to be reserved ahead of time as they are for celebrity's and parties of 4 or 5 this was my second time here first time was for a family members birthday. ordered mussels this time around and was advised I had to get alfredo sauce on them and there was no alternative, although they were good it just sucked to not be able to be accommodated or offered an alternative 3rd thing my sister asked if she could have butter sauce for her bread was advised she could but it would be a dollar, sister ordered crabs with curry sauce as well wanted extra sauce for her crabs was advised it was an extra 4$, food is amazing but its so sad how insensitive and unaccommodating the owner as well as staff is, owner reserves seats with hopes of imaginary people/celebrity's to come and sit at the booth while eating I could count on my hand how many people came in which literally was about 5 people and all got take out. it cost him nothing to accommodate our seats. after our food came out we asked to speak with owner, host advised owner was doing payroll so manager came out spoke with manager who advised they are the rules again insensitive and left it at that. owner finally comes walking out and approaches us about our experience we advised what was going on which turned into an hour long conversation this owner is a piece of work and admitted to our face he's in the restaurant business for the money. everything was about money he even went as far as to tell me why he doesn't use garlic butter on his muscles due to the butter going up in price and on and on about how he's not going to change his rules we weren't asking of that but have some sensitivity to paying customers. the owner never took accountability he literally argued back and forth with us about why he cant accommodate us as customers. I never in life experienced an owner of an establishment come out to address a situation and argue with customers and try to make them feel like they are wrong for feeling how they feel about an experience they had. so it wasn't about a 4$ sauce, a $1 sauce, or a booth its about having great customer service, and hospitality.
Advice to owner, its seem like your more culinary based then equally hospitality based, the food is amazing, however the service and the atmosphere sucks! update your outdated establishment and invest in an appropriate team whos customer service orientated so that it all match. Its seems as though you are unfit to run a whole establishment maybe consider just a take out spot. it also seems as though you don't accept constructive criticism be more open to hearing your customers concerns as they are what keep the business...
Read moreWent to Jordan Johnson's last night and I was a little disappointed. We go out to eat a lot so this review is legitimate. The outside was basic, but that didn't bother me because most smaller places have the best food. Got in the place and noticed a big bar in the middle of the restaurant but then overheard the staff tell someone waiting that they only had seats at the bar. Okay, that's cool but, they don't serve liquor. What?? Well why have a big ass bar in the middle then. If you are going to open a restaurant and don't serve liquor, then take the bar out. You will be able to serve more people, right! Then, the bathrooms are in the hallway near the entrance of the restaurant, weird but okay. But then noticed, it's only one big bathroom. If you have a half sized decent restaurant, then you need at least two to three stalls, not one big bathroom, esp for the ladies. Now on to the food. The waitress we started out with must have been at the end of her shift because she only took our orders and never returned, however no one ever said anything. She seemed like she had an attitude anyway. and the other wait staff was friendlier. A few people in our party had asked for the goat and another asked for oxtails, but they said they didn't have it anymore. Well if you don't have something, then you need to take it off the menu or tell people that way when you finally come over to take people's orders they know what you have and not searching to find other things to order. We had a party of 8 so right away she said 5 or more there is a 20% tip. I thought it was a bit much since it is a small neighborhood restaurant, but okay because we tip accordingly anyway. The kicker is the food was good but overly seasoned. The Thai wings and shrimp were great but had too much seasoning(salt, chili seasoning, or whatever they made them with). I have borderline high blood pressure and after eating that Thai I was skeptical. But then I ordered the Shrimp Alfredo and that had too much seasoning too. I thought I was going to pass out last night. Please, if you are reading this WAY TOO MUCH SALT. Then the portion sizes of some of the plates was way too much. My daughter's curry chicken plate was overflowing with curry and was enough for 3 people(way too much rice). She asked for brown rice but they didn't have it( she got veg rice and they charged her $5 extra without even saying anything). You can maybe cut back on the prices if you cut back on some of those large plates, we don't need all that food. In general you will notice that too and you won't need to use so many take out trays. So we tried to give the small owned business a play, but for now we won't be back. Sorry, not...
