Been here 5 times in a span of 2 months. The side dishes are all great, there is never a bad or unfresh dish. The watercress salad is always consistent. Their meat cuts are also pretty consistent and well seasoned. Their service depends on how busy they are, but I think they are trying their best to hire more help. Their nangmyun is best in Philly, not too sweet but their size are not consistent. I ordered smalls and larges on all 5 occasions but each time the amounts were different and the lady that works there with the hat and glasses is a bit argumentative each time. The large nang seemed small, finished in 2 bites, she claimed it was a large. Seemed no diff from the smalls I ordered from before. She also took our order wrong and brought the wrong meat cut. She insisted we ordered the combo and same cut meat in the combo, but the whole table heard me order the combo and a diff cut meat. We didn’t think they would charge us bc we did not get diff cut meat, but later found out she brought double serving of same cut meat. Anyway, she is not very helpful with bad attitude and she as been like that 3 out of the 5 times being there. She also cooked all out meat too fast and burned and dried out towards the end bc our table of 4 couldn’t keep up with the rate she was cooking it. I think next time I would suggest cooking ourself then having her do it and also kinda in ur personal space as well. The male owner seems way more understanding and much friendlier, but the communication between the staff and orders are lacking. I would always double check the bill at the end, it’s hand written and they made a mistake on our receipt three out of the five times I have been here. Anyway, if you want to come for good quality food, I would say def try this place out but just watch out on...
Read moreIf you’re looking for the pinnacle of charcoal-grilled barbecue in Philly, Kim’s Restaurant is a must-visit. This Korean BBQ spot stands out for its use of traditional 炭烤 (charcoal grilling). This method, rarely seen in modern times, imparts a unique flavor to the meat, making it juicier and more authentic. Each visit here is a celebration for us, especially after achieving small milestones.
This time, we’re excited to recommend their hidden menu items!
Galbi Jumuluk This Korean-style beef rib is thinner and grilled to perfection, making it tender and juicy. The sweetness in each bite is a family favorite and never disappoints.
Out Skirt Steak A meat lover’s dream, this steak is full of flavor. The outside is crispy, while the inside remains tender and juicy. The meat chunks are larger, and every bite is incredibly satisfying. This is my personal favorite.
Thin Cow Tongue Although not a hidden menu item, it’s a must-try for us. Highly recommended, the thin cow tongue is tender and bouncy, paired with a special sauce that’s truly delicious.
We arrived there at 5pm , good timing as not too busy , we don’t need to wait .
In addition to their BBQ, their side dishes are also unique and flavorful, with unlimited refills. Their salad is particularly tasty!
Finally, shout out to the Korean staff who always help us with the grilling. They are super nice and make the experience even better. This restaurant is definitely one of the best Korean BBQ places in Philly, and their charcoal grilling method makes...
Read moreOver the past year and a half, I have been a regular at this establishment, consistently impressed by the exceptional quality of the food and the dedication of the staff. However, I recently encountered a highly disappointing incident involving a new waiter. The waiter is a mid-age korean male who was extremely rude and aggressive. When we requested to take home the meat, sauce, and rice, the waiter refused and complained. These items are essential pairings that can be easily taken away and enjoyed later. While we understand that the rice was partially consumed, we offered to take it home as well, as it would not be suitable to return to the kitchen and serve to other customers. Despite the fact that the meat had already been paid for, the waiter insisted that it was against their policy to provide so many items for takeout. This behavior was particularly frustrating, given that we are regular customers who have consistently patronized the restaurant. Each visit exceeds $150, and we make a one-hour drive to and from the establishment. After this incident, we have lost our enthusiasm for the restaurant, despite its overall positive reputation. The waiter’s unprofessionalism and disloyalty have left a lasting negative impression on us. We hope that other customers are not subjected to such treatment and that the restaurant takes steps to address this issue. We will never be...
