A Slice of Hostility with My Pizza…
Stopped in after piano lessons to try this spot next to Lorenzo’s—initially had a great conversation with the counter guy about what makes their pizza different. Good vibes, felt local and promising. He sold me on a slice, and honestly, it was decent enough for what it was.
But things went south fast.
I had to use the bathroom after downing a Fiji water (post-lesson hydration), so I politely asked the cook if I could use theirs. His response? A flat-out no. I asked why, and he snapped: “It’s the law, I don’t have to. It’s not open to the public.”
Okay… but here’s the kicker: he literally said, “I would help an old person or a child use the bathroom, but not a 20-year-old.”
What?
So let me get this straight—you’d help the helpless, but for a normal adult who’s simply trying to not pee on your doorstep, you’re gonna act like they’re public enemy #1? Insane logic. This isn’t an interrogation room—it’s a pizza place.
I even turned to the counter guy, thinking he’d be the voice of reason. At first, he was calm… but when I expressed that the cook’s energy was off, and jokingly asked, “Does he ever get on your nerves?”—he lost it too. Started raising his voice at me like I was the problem.
All this… for needing to pee.
Fortunately, Lorenzo’s next door was kind enough to let me use theirs, and you know what? The pizza was better too.
Customer service matters. Human decency matters. This place lost both over something as simple as a bathroom....
Read moreWhile in the area checking out Paesano’s, I could smell this as I crossed the street and decided to take a chance and check it out (especially since Angelo’s line was at least 40 heads deep). I asked the one pizza guy what slice I should try and he suggested the cheesesteak so I was sold. This is a white slice with cheesesteak and I added some crushed red pepper.
This is all based on preference mind you. The flavor was good, I’d maybe even say real good. I love a solid white slice. The dough also had a great flavor to it. I do think it needed a few more minutes in the oven though, very doughy. Next time I’ll know to order it well done. No harm no foul.
This slice was $4.50 and the flavor and amount of meat (and their location in the Italian Market) makes sense for that price. I’d say Nannie Franco’s Didn’t Suck, but ask them to cook it well done.

Read moreOMG, this place was so good! We were visiting the Italian Market on a glorious fall day, and wanted stromboli or a calzone. My husband found this place and ordered a stromboli - you can't go in, you have to order through the window, which we found charming - and when it came it was ENORMOUS, far bigger than we had expected. But it was a welcome surprise! We ate some for lunch and then brought the rest home to keep for tomorrow's dinner. It was delectable, among the best Italian food I've ever had.
We sat outside at a simple table on the sidewalk and it was just lovely - sparrows coming and going, dogs stopping to drink from the water dish kindly placed outside the store, fall color everywhere. And the staff so friendly and...
