Nick's Charcoal Pit — Restaurant in Philadelphia

Horrible!!!!

I'm a big BBQ guy, both cooking and eating. So I sometimes work close bye this place and wanted to give it a try. I call in my order and tell them this was my first time trying their food. I ordered the Lamb chop platter, (Chops, fries and Slaw.) "Special sauce" was extra, for which I opted for. I requested the lamb cooked medium rare. Remember I said I'm just around the corner from them. Well 1 hour later, food arrived and when I opened it fries where hot, but lamb was blackened and was "leather"! Over cooked bad. No seasoning at all! Who cooks lamb without at least salt and pepper! Who does that!!!???? Wasn't even lollipops lamb cut. Don't know what cut. So to recap. It is sad to say that it was a $19.00 lesson on where not to eat ever again! What sadden me the most is that I told them it was my first time eating there thinking I would get a special effort. Nicks BBQ I ordered thru Grubhub on 11/07/2020. The rib and wing combo was quite delish and delivered hot for $16.95. Be prepared to wait 1 hour and 30 mins. Their tasty meats were cooked and sauced perfectly. I prefer my bbq cooked like Nick does it, old school, but my bf prefers the extreme smoke with a dry rub. The rib was my fav, it brought back nostalgic memories of great fam backyard bbq’s. The wings were good but whole wings are not my fav and they were tiny. I suggest buying the next size up. To my surprise, the fries were still crispy but there was soo few, only about 13 fries? I want more fries next time, Nick! Also, their well-known filet mignon sandwichy was good. Keep in mind, filet mignon costs about $6 more a pound that great cheesesteak meat, therefore don’t expect the meat to overflow the lovely sarcone’s roll and you won’t be...

If I could give ten stars I would! I'm writing a review because many people dont write the good things that happen as often as the bad do. Food is always good here, I'm not leaving this review based on the food, but as I said food is always great I would give 5 star. I'm writing today actually because the business made a minor mistake, one that I have had a seen happen in many restaurants, and by many chefs.

I called and when I spoke to the boss about it, he did what few businesses a people do these days, he did the honorable thing!! In life respect a honor should count for more than anything!!
