I went to Pistola's Del Sur today 2/27/2020. I sat at the bar. it was walking distance from my job so that was super convenient. I've heard some good and some bad reviews from the neighborhood so i decided to just try it myself due to i am big on writing reviews and visiting businesses.

So. when i got there i was greeted right away from the person behind the bar. ( short, small framed blonde hair: Katie M) we discussed certain foods that i was unable to eat due to I have Anaphylaxis reactions. Me and my friend waited to order ( 21 minutes) which is kinda long and also kinda ok. we watched so many other ppl receive their food and not ours but did not complain because that just not what we do. we eventually got our food ( tacos were good) This was NOT a pay week however i was having a bad day and just wanted a taco.... something that would make me feel better. And from the area i thought that this was a friendly come in eat and enjoy kind of establishment. we received the check after the food. as we were departing we were stopped at the door by a " very upset waitress " stating if she did anything wrong" I was instantly upset because i was hoping i did not unknowingly offend. However my co worker left her a tip and she did not like the amount of tip that was left and explained to us that she only makes 2$ an hour and were we not happy with her service. we explained other than the wait and us continuously having to get her attention everything was ok. however it was not our pay period which stopped up from leaving a tip of normalcy. She then made a facial expression and stormed off.... while ppl were looking at us. this was so unbelievably offensive and embarrassing.

its a shame that we can not just go get tacos without the pressure of tip! i usually leave a 10 -15 dollar tip or whatever the percentage of the gratuity. I will never visit this one again just because of her nasty attitude. if this is how you are treated with or...

I cannot even leave a star for service because it was that bad.

This is for the management, whom seem impossible to contact. I do not like to leave public posts but there is no one to contact from the establishment on their website...no "contact info," apparently for any of Casey's Pistola's places...I used to frequent here when I lived in South Philly and I am beyond disappointed...came after a Phillies game...we were all industry people willing to spend a lot of money. The guy behind the bar asked "what are we doing here?" when we were first tried to sit at a table and then said lets sit at the bar as not to keep the server (we were trying to be considerate) ...to which he said "she's here with me all night, regardless." He was not kind and rude.

So we sat at a table. Drinks took forever. Food came out before one pitcher of margs and there was only one person at the bar. I had to get up to ask the bartender for napkins and then again get up and find the sever, who was on her phone by the kitchen pass, for cutlery. The bill was complicated at the end. She presented one bill and then when she ran the card was half of that...I overtipped certainly for the experience and want a full refund. Shady, comped half the bill for the tip and also the service was horrible. She also had no personality.

Do not recommend this place, especially for late night. It used to be warm and welcoming at any hour and now it just feels like you are an inconvenience to be there (and if it had been friendly and welcoming we would've gotten that second pitcher and...

So I would like to start off saying this was one of my favorite restaurants, a complete go to at any given time of the week. I would definitely give this place 5 stars for the food, drinks and environment. The lack of stars strictly comes from the service and the way my sister and I have been treated(like trash) by a number of the waitresses. We either only visit now on Monday or early Saturdays because mike, Liz or Katie are working those days. The black bartender is extremely nasty (I’m also a black women), it’s like we have to prove ourselves over and over as worthy patrons. Not only is she curt and smug but she rushes us to order and doesn’t tend to our table for most of the visit, also the plus sized ( only stated for descriptive purposes/still attractive ) waitress with the brown hair and eccentric hair cut waits on us with distrust and contempt whenever she’s our server. There’s also a taller WF server with reddish brown hair that’s completely rude and has a very “mean girl “ disposition pretty much every time we’ve visited. We tip well and are very respectful easygoing visitors. I would come more often if their was some sort of corrective behavior among the wait staff (excluding the named individuals that where stated earlier) it’s a shame because this place has a real charm and...

Pistolas Del Sur is a fantastic addition to the South Philly food scene and a worthy extension of the Pistolas brand. Located right on Passyunk Ave, it brings the same energy and quality that fans of the original locations have come to expect, without feeling like a copy-paste chain. The space is vibrant but laid-back, with a good mix of bar seating and tables, making it equally suited for casual dinners or group outings. Service is consistently friendly and efficient. The food here is excellent across the board. The burritos are easily the highlight—massive, packed with flavor, and perfectly balanced in texture. Whether you're going with carnitas, chicken tinga, or their seared shrimp option, everything tastes fresh and carefully made. Their tacos, nachos, and house salsas all follow suit with bold seasoning and high-quality ingredients. The drinks menu also holds up, with a strong showing of tequilas and margaritas that hit right. Takeout is handled well, too. They pack everything with care, label it clearly, and keep hot and cold items separate—no soggy tacos or leaking salsa cups. It’s rare to find that level of attention to detail in to-go orders, but Pistolas Del Sur nails it. Overall, it’s another win for the Pistolas group—great food, great service, and a welcome new presence on Passyunk.

Was exploring the East Passyunk Ave and landed at Pisstola'a for dinner. I knew they had several versions of ceviche on the menu. Selected the Ceviche Mixto. Plenty of lime juice, heat from Serrano peppers. Served with corn tortilla chips. I like mild to medium spice...this had more heat than I prefer...but I did finish it...very flavorful. Also ordered tortilla soup, also very flavorful. That I could not finish. Just too spicy for me. The chips were super crunchy...I Prefer thinner chips. I would go back, everything was very fresh, served fast and they have a great menu. Just need to dial down the Serrano usage for me.
