I’ve been a loyal customer of Ninja Sushi on Bustleton Ave, Philadelphia, PA, for many years, even before I had children. Unfortunately, my most recent visit was very disappointing, as it’s clear the restaurant’s standards have dropped significantly.

The cleanliness of the place is a major concern. The floors were greasy, the tables were not properly cleaned, and even the ductwork had a thick layer of dust on it. The bathrooms were unhygienic and in poor condition. This lack of attention to cleanliness is unacceptable, especially for a restaurant.

The quality of the food has also declined. What used to be a vibrant and enjoyable dining experience now feels neglected. Additionally, the service was extremely poor. The staff seemed disengaged and uninterested in ensuring a good experience. After taking our order and delivering the food, our server never checked back to see if we needed anything else—not even a single soda refill. Towards closing time, we were rushed out of the restaurant without proper attention or care.

What was even more upsetting was the enforcement of an 18% gratuity charge, regardless of the level of service provided. For the minimal effort by the server, the $32.33 gratuity was unearned. I initially thought I was tipping $20, only to find out the higher amount had been charged without explanation. Forced gratuities for subpar service leave a bad impression and feel unfair.

It’s heartbreaking to see a place I once loved fall so far. I sincerely hope the owners take action to improve cleanliness, food quality, and service standards. Until then, I cannot recommend this...

Was hoping to take my daughter for a hibachi late lunch, however they were not offering it at that time(Saturday Afternoon). We were informed that we can still order from hibachi menu & it would be cooked in the kitchen. We placed our orders, received our drinks & did not see the waitress again until the food was brought out. Must say the chicken teriyaki was brilliant, delicious, tender & could of eaten it for days. Never saw the waitress again, had to ask another staff member to get her so we could wrap our leftovers & get the check. She tried to just drop it off & walk away.... Hell No would of been there another hour n a half! I said “Miss I’m ready for you to take this now”. I don’t believe in leaving a shity tip, but I also feel when I’m spending my families hard earned money to eat out, I should feel like your only table(in fact we were the only table as they hadn’t been open very long that day). This was a difficult review as I was very pleased with the food & establishments ambiance, I was truly disappointed they weren’t set up for hibachi, plus the waitress was rude & seemed annoyed she had to do her job. She avoided us the entire meal. I would recommend training for their staff considering Hibachi/Sushi restaurants are a...

Ordered sushi for pick up at 7:55 and paid online. Order pickup window was 8:10-8:34. At 8:30, I ask how much longer until our food is ready, and am told (for the first of 5 times) that they'll check. Finally, by 8:45, I ask them to find out if the food has even been started, and if not can I cancel the order and receive a refund? This is the 4th time I'm told they'll go find out. At 8:55, I politely, but firmly, demand an answer, and am first told the kitchen is making it, then that it's not being made yet, and finally that they'll cancel the order for me. Then they take another five minutes to try and tell me that the order is canceled and I didn't pay yet, so I'm all set. At which point I show them the paid receipt on my phone, they tell me theyll refund me, and I give up and leave. The pizza we were supposed to pick up after grabbing our sushi is ice cold, and we have zero sushi.

Fwiw, the guy up front was calling phone orders to tell them they would be unable to fill them and cancel them so they didn't have the same experience I did. But WHY NOT JUST SUSPEND ONLINE ORDERING??????

I will NOT...

This place had terrible service. Did not fill up our drinks at all. I am a vegetarian and they were not very cooperative with the food options. I asked for certain vegetables in my rice and noodles and it came out plain. Then, my friends that got rice had the vegetables in theirs that they told me they didn’t have. We had someone take our drink order after 10 minutes of sitting and waiting and then didn’t take our food order til another 20 minutes after that. They did not ask how our food came out. I was extremely disappointed in the food, the service, and waitresses are terrible here. The noodles came out over cooked and dry. Our soy sauce jar was empty, this should have been done prior to seating us. When they brought us up to the table, the table was dirty with empty plates still on here and the floor was a mess. They “wiped” the table down infront of us. “Wiped” meaning sprayed a small spot and didn’t see any other mess so they decided not the wipe down the whole table. They even wiped it down with WINDEX. These tables are wood.

UPDATE: We came back many times after our initial visit (mostly for takeout) and are very satisfied with their rolls. We came at around 7pm on a Tuesday night, we were seated on the top floor which was absolutely beautiful, the lighting, chandeliers, and the overall atmosphere was romantic classy and welcoming. The sushi and food was a great 5 star experience. Here comes the kicker though; we were not served or offered any water, no napkins, or chopsticks were given to us until we waved to the waitress to bring it to us, when we asked for some napkins she came with exactly 2 napkins. We also had to wait for our food for a very long time. I would recommend this place for takeout since the food is good, but if you're looking for quality service this is not the place to go to.
