I dined in at this location on a Saturday twice. Both times I was serviced by the same waitress. The hosts were always friendly and pleasant. However my first time here I noticed that the waitress was standoffish but I didn’t really care because I was too busy enjoying my cannoli French toast and lemonade.
My second time here, I ordered the tofu scramble. The server who brought out my food was very friendly and asked if I needed anything else. The waitress never checked on me to the point it seemed like she was avoiding me. I requested plastic and she sat it on the table and immediately walked away. I didn’t like the tofu scramble so I was waiting for her to check in with me. She was directly in front of my table talking to another employee as I waited. I ended up finishing my sides with the tofu still on my plate. She came over and placed the check on my table and immediately walked away once again. I sat there and waited for her to return and she never said anything. 😩 She saw the displeased look on my face and looked confused as she continued to converse with the other staff. When she returned for the check, she was surprised I didn’t pay yet (still didn’t check in). I told her I didn’t like the tofu scramble and before I could even think about getting something else, she brought out the check. She finally asked if I wanted something else but I told her I was ready to go. She made the price adjustment, I paid then left. She barely opened her mouth to thank me for the tip.
I truly like this location but that one waitress makes me not want to dine in. She could benefit from a customer service training or should work in...
Read moreI’ve been meaning to post this for a couple weeks but life with kids postpones some things. A friend of mine and I decided to stop at Sabrina’s cafe after visiting the please touch museum with our kids. I called ahead and a very friendly woman told me that they don’t take call aheads but come on in, there’s not a wait right now. When we arrived, the restaurant was inviting and fun to eat in what looked like an old fancy home for the area. They were incredibly welcoming to us and our kids and seated us in a booth so they’d sit up a little higher. The service was fast as they got us drinks and offered food recommendations. They offered to bring the kids food out first, which we declined(because when they’re done they think we all are!), but was nice. My son’s pancake was shaped like Mickey Mouse which was super fun and he loved. The French toast, chicken and waffles, eggs and fries for the kids, and pancake were all awesome.
The most impressive thing to me was their response to an incident. We wanted a relaxing time out but with 3 kids under 3 in tow, that’s not always easy. I think our waitress sensed this and kept an eye out. At one point my friend’s daughter didn’t know how to express she wanted some waffles from her chicken and waffle dish, so she picked up her fried chicken breast and accidentally dropped it on the floor. In less than 10 seconds, the waitress told my friend another was on its way. In minutes, a new piece of perfectly fried chicken was on her plate. It was amazing food, incredible service, and great atmosphere. I’ll definitely be back and recommend it to anyone I know...
Read moreI've gone to both Sabrina's restaurants in the past and it had been awhile; glad I came back. Brunch today (Sunday, around 9:45-11) was really pretty awesome. No wait for a table! I had the seitan bahn mi and my only complaint was that the sauce (more like a salad dressing?) was a little too overpowering. The sandwich was huge, so I ate those parts first so that I could enjoy a wider flavor profile when I jumped into the actual sandwich. Veggies and pickles were totally on point! Next time I'd get the dressing on the side; it's actually not necessary at all, but I'm willing to try it again. My wife had the mushroom toast and again, this was a big meal, not a wimpy toast. My (similar) complaint here is that the goat cheese was a little overwhelming. The mushrooms were really well prepared, but it's hard for mushrooms to compete with strong, sharp flavors like goat cheese. It was a good combo, but just too one-sided.
So, if I may make a polite suggestion to the restaurant: consider the whole flavor palate and be careful with the sharper, more focused flavors. That's just my opinion for what it's worth. Still giving 5 stars. :-)
...I didn't know that there was a back patio for eating. It was really nice to eat outside on a spring day and not be right next to the street. Our waitress was cheerful and attentive; I wish I had asked her name so I could offer some...
