Schmear It — Restaurant in Philadelphia

Best. Bagels. Ever!

I walked by Schmear It truck almost every day for a couple years, and only found the storefront about a year ago, and my weekends have been transformed since! We have made it a tradition to get breakfast at Schmear It once a month, and any time we have guests.

I have tried a lot of their egg sandwiches and have settled on the Mexican Egg Sandwich with Jalapeno Schmear and hash. Best enjoyed in the store, but they travel well for at least 30 minutes. The coffee is not quite to my liking, but they don't mind if I get coffee from Dunkin next door and bring it in (I drink coffee for the milk and sugar... so you may very well love the coffee at Schmear It).

The store has more menu options than the truck, the truck doesn't serve any egg sandwiches. The truck is also very good, and you can try it out at 38th and Locust.

I've been going to Schmear It since it was just a food truck, and I am so happy that they have a store front now, too! I think they are a great, thoughtful business and the people who run it could not be any nicer. From the causes and organizations they support to the different dietary restrictions they are careful to accommodate, make them very different from other food places. Not to mention, the food is delicious! The portions are generous and the prices are reasonable. I've never been disappointed from anything that I've eaten here. Great bagels, but you need to watch them closely as they make yours. I just saw a guy making a bagel. He dropped a cucumber on the floor, picked it up, and without changing his gloves, continued making the bagel. I brought it to the attention of the person at the register. She thanked, but when I turned around, her and another girl also making bagels, were laughing. It may have been about something unrelated, but it's not a good look.
