Taylor's Cafe — Restaurant in Philadelphia

Amazing food but terrible service.

My boyfriend and I were looking for a breakfast place for weekend brunches since we just moved to Roxborough. The food was amazing, but we were absolutely shocked at how rushed we were. We came at 12pm and this placed closes at 3:30pm. There was no reason to shuffle us out. This was our experience:

When we sat down, our table was covered in ketchup and other spills. I understand some guests are messy but our waitress tried to put our menus down on top of this messy table. She was annoyed when I asked for the table to be cleaned first. She came back, cleaned the table, and handed us menus. Before we opened the menu she asked us what we wanted to drink. At this point, I wasn't upset but I thought she should have given us time to look at the options especially since there were some specialty coffees here. We asked for a few minutes.

Our waitress went over to the table next to us and handed them something (I think the check) before coming right back to our table and saying, "so what will you have?" It was a matter of seconds later. We ordered water because we didn't get a chance to look. She then asked us what we wanted to eat. That's when I got annoyed. We had the menu for less than 1 minute. How could we have possible looked at anything? I said, "can we please have 10 minutes to look at the menu?" She agreed and left.

I set a timer on my phone just to see how much time she would actually give us... 2 minutes and 7 seconds later she comes up and says, "so what will you have?" What is the big rush at 12 in the afternoon? We ordered iced coffees and had to ask for more time to order food once again. She gave us another minute before coming back with our drinks and asking again what we wanted for brunch. We ended up just ordering the first thing that looked good. I got the banana boat and my boyfriend got a breakfast burrito with a side of fries.

I was pleasantly surprised with how amazing the food and coffee was. The presentation was beautiful, and the coffee is so fresh. The food and drinks are perfect here. However, it was only minutes after we got our food that the waitress came back and asked if we needed boxes while we were still chewing. We both had full plates of food so I said we were not done. She said, "Okay, I'll just leave the check here for when you're ready." Since I took a picture of the food as soon as it came out, I could check the amount of time she gave us before dumping the check on us. It was 4 minutes. I was extremely annoyed. My boyfriend wanted to try a dessert, but I guess not...

It's such a shame because the place is gorgeous and the food is easily 10/10. It would have been PERFECT for the upcoming warm months to sit outside and relax on a weekend. Great food doesn't make up for bad service. That's not the Sunday morning brunch experience we had in mind.

At some point, I'm going to go back because we may have just gotten a bad waitress. Hopefully it will be a better experience, and I'll update this post on my second experience...

So I went to Taylor’s Cafe probably around a month ago with my friends. The wait was 45 minutes for food & we said okay that’s fine. We didn’t even get waters until 20 minutes in. 4 out of 5 of us order dishes that have over easy eggs or sunny side eggs. My egg dish comes out & the inner “whites” are absolutely clear as jelly. I ask the server to see if it can be cooked more as I didn’t want to get sick. 2 other dishes came out the same (my friends) but there’s was a bit less than mine & considering that we waited for an hour & a half for our food, they cut it, pushed it to the side & ate what they had. The server was nice enough to have the entire dish redone but when it comes back, it’s the same exact thing, the whites moving & clear. Even she’s embarrassed to serve it to me & just keeps apologizing profusely. And I was like it’s not your fault but I really just don’t want to get sick. At this rate my friends are nearly done with their meals and I have no food not even the tater tots I ordered. The tater tots come, there oil needs to be changed bc it was bitter. The server asks if I want anything else & as so much time has passed by & all my friends were finished I had no desire to order anything else especially bc they all had egg dishes that weren’t as good either. Another friend had a dish with the egg over cooked as an over easy. And I was tired of mine being under done. But to the servers’ surprise the chef cooked the same dish again without telling her & cooked the dish a third time after I had said I no longer wanted anything. Finally, edible. The place is cute & nice, but I don’t think it’s appropriate to put peoples health at risk—that’s just not okay 😂. The server felt so bad she took it off the check for me bc even she expressed that that wasn’t okay. I left the place starving, & disappointed. Undercooked eggs. 3 times; I realize now I should’ve...

So I went on 7/24/22 and it was one of my worst times there.... #1 The air conditioner was down so it was hot , they did have about 4 to 5 fans.....#2 There was only one waitress , #3 Ordered a coffee that never came out , #4 No chicken, just the already nasty processed chicken nuggets #5 Ordered whip cream for my pancakes and had to ask for the whip cream again after the pancakes were half gone because the 1 waitress was too busy . #6 Something was spilled on the floor and the guy started to clean it with very strong pine sol while people are trying to eat and was about to use bleach as well until I yelled across the floor to not open the bleach.....I asked him can you smell that , people are trying to eat..

Very Bad Experience.... Tell the cooks to stop using profanity as well ...kids come to eat there and xan hear the cooks using profanity...

Get it together and keep the chicken stocked.

When yall on the money , yall on the money....I like this place but that day was the worst.....it's like everyone their didn't want to...
