DO ONE THING: Ek Kaam Kar!
I wanted to take time to give this restaurant a review as I only usually write reviews if I had an incredibly good experience or an incredibly bad one. I have been coming here for a while and had written a review but it seems to have gotten lost. Let me say this I love everything about the place.
The restaurant is not good, it is exquisite. There is an equal balance of simplicity and elegance that makes for the perfect climate of any restaurant. These descriptions are demonstrated by the employees and staff, the design and layout, the menu and food, and the owners and diners. You can come in dressed up on that perfect date or in a tea-shirt and jeans if you want to come in for a relaxed bite.
What I will say about this restaurant is this. They put great care into making the diners feel at home. When you come here you are not just a customer, but I do believe you are family. I really do enjoy the owners and the staff especially because they will go out of their way to make you a happy diner.
As far as cleanliness there are many restaurants that I wouldn't feel comfortable in but this one is beyond that. Not only are they clean, but I have never encountered a problem with the logistics and layout of the place either. I promise you that you will not be let down if you stop in here.
If you haven't tried Indian cuisine because it is too "hot and spicy", you must give them a try as they will ensure your meal is spicy to your liking. They have a great selection of juices. I am particularly fond of the Lychee juice. While I am on the subject of beverages, I will state that if you are "ask nicely" and make a request for a free refill of Hot Masala (Tea) they will do so (but don't let too many know about this.)
Please come to this moderately priced restaurant. You won't be let down. Outstanding, Impressive,...
Read moreThe food is fine, but the service is terrible at the Mt. Airy Tiffin. I drove by today and decided to stop in and place a carryout order since I had an email about their $15 special. The first guy I talked to didn't even know what I was talking about, I had to order with someone else. They said 15-20 min. for the order so I went for a walk and came back. It took another 20 min. for a total of 40 min. for me to get my food. I got all the way home and they forgot the appetizer I ordered. I called and the manager didn't even offer anything other than a "sorry." They knew exactly what I was talking about. No offer to deliver my appetizer or anything. I am so frustrated. Last time I had them, I did an online order and had to wait an additional 10 minutes when I showed up at the designated pick up time. Next time I'm going to Jyoti in Mt. Airy, it's 5 min. from Tiffin, the food is just as good, the service is way better, and they...
Read moreCeliacs beware. I was traveling and struggled to find any celiac-friendly restaurant before dinner time. After two hours of searching, it seemed like Tiffin might work. I talked to someone on the phone about my "allergy" and they said they had many gluten-free options and pointed me to a particular online menu with "gf" labels on items. When I got into the restaurant to pick up our order, I saw on the printed menu their disclaimer that all items may be exposed to wheat. Sure enough, four days later, I'm still not able to digest food.
It blows my mind that one of the largest cities in the country doesn't have hardly any celiac-friendly restaurants except a few sweets and junk food/snack shops, but that's not Tiffin's fault. However, like every other restaurant I tried to eat at in the city, they need to train their staff to say they are not celiac friendly and advise people to just try to survive on cold food from...
