First of all, the cheesesteak tasted like one you'd get at a mall food court. Not awful, but not authentic -- well short of the reputation of what makes a Philly cheesesteak. At least the fries were good. My mom and I stopped here on Tuesday Oct. 20 before the Flyers game. We're both Philadelphia natives and know how to order a cheesesteak but had never been here before. As we looked at the menu to see what was unique about this place, a gentleman came in behind us and asked if this was the line. Matthew, the employee at the counter, announced "I don't know what they're doing." Next time, maybe just ask us if we're ready. When we started to give our order, Matthew tapped the special instruction sign next to the order window and told us very condescendingly, "This is how you order." Before my mom even had a chance to say which cheese she wanted, Matthew cut her off with "What kind of cheese, hon?" "Hon?" You're not a waitress at a diner; you can't get away with that. I guess we were moving too slow for an otherwise empty restaurant (which, being empty at 5:30 PM, should tell you a lot about this place). Matthew was also bossy and rude to the other employee working with him. I wish we would've just walked out of there. If you're at all curious about this place like I was, don't waste your time. Go somewhere else for a better, authentic cheesesteak and...
Read morePlease stop exaggerating about how bad this shop is. No, they do not use ribeye in their cheesesteaks like the very best shops use; they use a cheaper cut that must be chopped into thousands of pieces to make it chewable. But then again, you do not have to drive 10 miles in congested city traffic to get to the greatest but priciest ribeye shop, Joe's Steak and Soda. But Wit's cheesesteaks are still very tasty and a huge notch above lowly fast food burgers, thanks in part to the superior rolls, cheese, and preparation. Plus, they will accommodate your preferences, such as getting your steak well done. And keep in mind that for the amount of food received, you actually get a better deal than from the fast food joint mere yards away. The chicken cheesesteak has too much dark meat for my taste. The fries and hoagies are average to above. The shop itself is clean, attractive, and customer friendly. The staff is sometimes a bit crude and rude, but that is par for the course for any Philly...
Read moreFantastic food!! Love their cheesesteaks and well done Onion Rings in particular !!! Wit or Without, is among the top three cheesesteaks in Northeast Philly !! New owner and new Cheesesteak. Superior to the previous owner's cheesesteak and food in general. After speaking to the new owner, who was very friendly explaining to me that he purchased the franchise and completely changed the food. Well, I was very impressed with him and his food. I ordered a cheesesteak with well done onion rings. Love that onion rings Dipping Sauce, too. I ordered a Seeded roll with fried onions and extra Cooper Sharp. Was very impressed and it has become my "Go to place," for a cheesesteak now. I also like that there's plenty...
