We made a dinner reservation for 8 people way ahead and they also confirmed our reservation. We arrived exactly at our reservation time which was at 8pm but we were told to wait couple minutes. Then the server came back and informed us they’ll not be able to give us a table at that time and it’ll take awhile because they’re booked and they’ve no seating available. What was the point of us making reservation then if we were treated as if we were walk-in customers?! If that’s how your policy is, I HIGHLY recommend to take out the reservation option because clearly you guys don’t know how restaurant reservation works. We made a reservation for a family celebration and that was completely ruined because of such mismanagement and on top of that, we got 0 apologies from the server (He was smiling to be precise). That was ridiculous and completely unacceptable. It used to be one of our go to but from now on, will definitely never consider to go there again, let alone making any...
Read moreThis is a review of just the vegan items on the menu served by Visarat Haveli, and gosh they are so delicious and so well-presented in authentic Indian style! The dosas (South-Indian style crepes), perfectly crispy without greasiness, are served on a banana leaf as in India! The bhel poori, a tangy yummy mix of puffed rice and various crunchies, is served in a paper cone made of an Indian-language newspaper, just like on the street carts in India. The vada pav, a crispy ball with a spiced potato filling sandwiched inside a bun, is served with fresh lemon, garnishes and a hot roasted chili perched neatly on top of the bun. Perfect! I could go on ... I have now tried all of their vegan items and I think this is one of the best restaurants in Philly for vegan Indian fare — I am glad the vegan items are clearly marked on the restaurant menu and the staff seem well-educated about what is vegan and...
Read moreThis is by far the best Indo-Pakistani restaurant I've found in Philly! The cuisine is very authentic, felt just like back home. The masala in the dum biryani was perfect (they offer mild, medium, and spicy). It literally came in a clay handi sealed with aata, and a dish of lemon/onion/green chili on the side. I haven't tried the South Indian dishes (dosas, etc) they offer yet, but as far as the butter chicken, kadhai chicken, nihari, and chicken tikka, the food exceeded our expectations. The kheer, falooda kulfi, and mango lassi were also wonderful. I've gone twice already in the past week with friends who are and aren't Indian, and everyone found something they loved. The most recent time we didn't finished eating by their closing time at 10, and the staff was so kind and understanding, didn't rush us at all. Would...
