The food here is great. It’s so good that I find myself going back. However, I have been expected to wait for fifteen mins to half an hour without so much as a “will be right with you” or an acknowledgment every time I went. The lady is very rude. I patiently waited my turn and asked for the lamb curry after I had watched her meticulously overpack the order of the man who ordered before me to the point where she told him that the lamb curry “will leak everywhere” if she tries to close the lid because she overstuffed it with meat. It did leak everywhere and she smiled while handing it to him and triple checking his order to make sure everyone he ordered for knew which styrofoam container was their food. At my turn, she said there was no lamb curry left. She swirled the ladle around the metal container and I saw some meat so I said as long as she loads it up (like she did for the guy before me), I’ll take the last bit of leftover curry (right before closing time). However, she picked up just about every bone that was left in the curry and left me with a curry container that was exactly half filled with empty bones when I finished eating. All but two of these were bones without meat attached to them. Attaching photos. I could not tell you what the lamb was supposed to look like. I am incredibly disappointed and angry at the disrespect I get every time I go here. I asked her for a little more rice thinking she would just put half an extra scoop on the tray. After all, she had put half a scoop of chickpeas and peas/potatoes on my tray. Given the time of day, amount/options of food leftover from the day, wait time, and treatment of other customers that I have seen, I expected to be given a reasonable amount of food and to be treated with kindness. She muttered under her breath about how everyone rushes in at the same time. People are getting off work late, hungry, and yet coming to give her business on a weeknight with several friends ordering $100+. This is not the first time I felt disrespected by this woman. How can you complain about that in front of a customer who stood waiting for 15 minutes without so much as a hi? However, she grabbed a plastic container, filled it three quarters with rice, and charged me an extra $4 while saying that next time I can pass on the vegetable sides that come with the meal and ask for rice instead. I asked for the chutney sauce and did not receive any. I don’t think I am asking for too much. I just want to be treated with respect because I have given them my business at least several times a week for the past few weeks. While I did not grow up eating this food, I’ve grown to love it and have become a regular customer spending close to a hundred dollars there a week. I am sick of this treatment and since the lady asked me to leave a review the first time she ever took my order, I thought I’d leave my honest opinion here. If management sees this and would like to rectify this situation I will listen. Everyone deserves a second chance.

The best place for the best pakistani food, if you want to enjoy fresh and delicious meals, this is the place you MUST visit. We ordered Mixed grill special 10/10, the kebob wa sbery juicy soft and tender and the taste was like something ai used to have back in Pakistan “. We also ordered biryani which was really tasty with good quantity of meat in it, we ordered Rabri Falooda which was waoooooo, the perfect sweet taste neither too high or sugar nor too low, they made it fresh too. Lastly we ordered karak chaaiy which was like a traditional chaaiy of Pakistan, like a dhabba style chaaiy, I was craving for so long. They also served naan, raita, salad in good quantity. The one food portion is enough for two people. Over all I would say this food matches the authentic taste of Pakistani food I have ever had here in USA.

For a meal that cost $85, this was just a horrible experience. The woman at the counter was very rude but we were prepared to overlook this if the food was any good. I've been coming to Kabobeesh for over 18 years and returned here today after a 5 year absence. The last time we came here, 4 members of my family got food poisoning. We returned after 5 years, hoping to give it a chance to redeem itself. Boy, were we mistaken. The chicken karahi, which took over 30 minutes to prepare, was burnt and over seasoned with black pepper. They served it in a traditional karahi but gave us no utensils to serve it. We had to use tiny plastic spoons. The nan was soggy and the vegetables were full of oil. The atmosphere has never been a strong point of kabobeesh, but now the food matches the decor... drab and tasteless.

Used to Be My only go to pakistani restaurant – Now I’ll Never Go Back

This restaurant used to mean a lot to my family. It’s one of the only places in Philly serving real, authentic Pakistani food. They catered my wedding. They catered my son’s birthday. I’ve supported them for years—but after what’s happened the last two visits, I’m done.

The issue? The cashier. Maybe she’s the owner or manager, I’m not sure—but what I do know is that she’s racist, disrespectful, dismissive, and completely unprofessional.

Six months ago, my husband (who is African american) walked in and asked for a naan-kebab roll—a common item any Pakistani restaurant should understand and be able to make, and have made for us for years of us visting kebobeesh.

Instead of helping, she acted like he was stupid for even asking for an item that is no longer or not on the menu at all. And was racist in the demeanor of what he can or can not afford by selling him a kashmi kebab roll. And said another kebab is extra is he sure he wants that and repeated the extra cost a few times.

Mind you we asked for naan kebab roll

I walked in to pick up the order and was given smirks and condescending comments due to my husbands lack of knowledge on a pakistani menu. Other customers had to speak up on my behalf, and it all ended up in a full-blown argument just trying to get our food.

Fast forward to my most recent visit: I waited over five minutes at the register while she sat on a chair nearby, deep in a personal phone conversation in Bengali, ignoring me completely. She walked over, handed someone else their order, and walked away again—still on the phone. She didn’t even acknowledge me. No eye contact, no “I’ll be with you in a minute,” nothing. Just pure disregard.

I simply just walked out.

It felt personal, and it was unprofessional. Whether she remembered me or not, that’s not how you treat loyal customers—or any customer.

As a restaurant owner myself, I would never tolerate this kind of attitude from someone representing my business. It's a shame to see such a beloved spot being brought down by one...

I ordered Chicken Karahi which was decent, but nothing to rave about. They dont serve roti, neither tandoori or normal, which I was sad to find out. How can you call yourself a Pakistani restaurant and not serve roti? I also ordered samosas, which looked and tasted like the run of the mill frozen box variety you get in desi grocery stores. What was interesting was even though the samosas were ready made or in this case, taken out of the box and fryed and then put in the heated display area. They still gave them to me 30 minutes later or when my Karahi and naan were ready. You would think they would serve an appetizer prior, especially when all they are doing is taking them out of the heated display area which is a few feet away from the cash register. They charge $2.99 for 20oz sodas plus the soda tax. All in all I paid $84 for chicken karahi, 5 naans, 5 box variety small samosas, and 2 20oz sodas. Very little value for price in my opinion. While waiting for my food, I decided to also order a kids tenders+ fries meal, the menu said this meal included a can soda, but the guy at the counter said it didnt, I digress. The tenders and fries came out to $8.20, I tried handing the guy my credit card. He told me there was a $10 minimum for CC. I was irrate, mind you this was after i already paid $84 for food i hadn't gotten yet. If i didn't have my family with me I would have told them to refund my money and walked out. Instead I told the guy to forget about the tenders and fries. He actually seemed please to hear this. So all in all if you want to overpay for mediocre Pakistani food and poor service then go here. Otherwise cross the bridge to NJ for better Pakistani food or go to Upper Darby which is just...
