Zaccone's is what restaurants used to be like before all the chain restaurants invaded! I've wanted Chicken Francaise made the original way - did a search & after reading reviews & descriptions from NE Philadelphia area: I called 1 hour before closing to see if it was too late for take out. I was answered by one of the most pleasant employees I've talked to in years! Knowledgeable about their food, including ingredients, what had sold out for the night ( not surprising when all the food is made BY them) I would rather have fresh made, then have reheated from who knows when - or worse microwaved. She even knew the difference between Francaise and Francese preparations; AND even confirmed which way I wanted as the Chef would cook it either way!! How often does that happen??!!! She also told my other half who picked up the food; that the Strawberry Tiramisu should go into our frig if it warmed up on way home. It's not on their "regular" dessert menu, but on occasion the owner who bakes makes different desserts, when supplies are fresh & she wants to give the patrons something else. Well SHE is a REAL BAKER - I could eat it everyday for a month & not tire of how delicious it was! And the chicken was fantastic too - people have posted the portions were small - Not so - look at pic's other reviewer's have posted, those plates are filled above the dish's edge & I have plenty for lunch tomorrow...YUMMY I can't wait, too bad I did finish my dessert. Zaccone's deserves more than 5 stars & I'm looking forward to working my way through...
Read moreDined there this evening and had a horrible experience. Not greeted as soon as we walked in the door. First rule in a restaurant..acknowledge, even if saying I will be right with you. We were sat and it took forever for our server to come to purchase table. She took the whole order in first visit to table. I am not sure if maybe her English was not the best, which I hope because otherwise, she was just rude. Didn't not even reply, "your welcome " after being Thanked. There was also a sign, cash only. No checks or credit cards. Really? Its 2016... this also lowered the cost of our bill because we only had so much cash on us and skipped on an app and dessert...The food took FOREVER and it wasn't even busy. A table who came in after us were even served before us. Typically when you go to an Italian restaurant, there is so much food that you come home with leftovers. Nope...not here.. It was such a cheap portion sizes for what they charged. I only ate the whole meal because I had not eaten since breakfast and was starving. It was too salty and felt like I was eating a bunch of melted butter instead of white wine sauce. No one came to refill our drinks. I literally had to walk to the front counter where 2 girls were just chatting. The bill was also $45 for a small plate of scampi and ckn marsala and 2 iced teas. More than anything, the service was horrible and our waitress was rude. What a horrible experience. ...
