30 min ago I decided to take a walk up to Zsa’s for some ice cream. I got myself some and something to go for my son. Everything was fine until the woman who called out my ice cream, she was the nastiest I’ve experienced in a long time. I was shocked and confused.
She called my order, I said yes and walked up. I saw my cone laying sideways and my son’s cup with no lid. I simply reminded her it was to go. Well honey, IF LOOKS COULD KILL! She gave me the most annoyed look I’ve ever received, just for asking my to-go order to actually be for to-go. If there was a miscommunication between the order taker and preparer, that shouldn’t have been reflected in the service provided to me .
Then she handed me my order: 2 scoops on a cone, 2 in a cup. My cone was still sideways and as soon as I picked it up, it fell apart. I asked if she could secure it since it had already fallen apart, and she flat out said “NO.” I said “pardon me?” and she went on about how “it’s soft ice cream” (it was hard!) and “that’s why I gave you a spoon.”
Listen, I did not walk 3 blocks and spend $18 for a sideways ice cream cone. I don’t recall ever receiving my ice cream like this in the past. I just wanted it upright so I could eat it happily on my walk back home. That’s it. A simple request from a paying customer.
I told her blatantly I've never in my years of coming here have I seen her or experienced this level of service. I told her that her service sucks ( because it did) . She said, “I’m sorry.” I said, “No, you’re not.” I was chatting with the cashier about the closing this winter. It's sad. However, if that is a reflection of service. Goodbye.
The ice cream is good, but the service I experienced tonight was terrible. Completely took me and my friend by surprise and honestly left...
Read moreI’ve come to the parlor quite frequently. You learn the true heart of a business’ customer service when an issue arises. Today, I placed an order after my sister. My sister gave her first and last name for her order and coming two people behind her, I placed my order using only my last name. My sister’s order had three separate ice cream cups. One of which matched the same flavor I ordered. My sister’s entire order came out and I waited for mine. After watching people who were after me served, I went to the window to ask how much longer mine would be. The manager asked for my name, when I gave her my last name she looked and said “we already gave it to you”. I let her know that she had not, she gave my sister her order and I was still waiting on mine. She rudely insisted that I already received my ice cream as if I was attempting to scheme a $6 cup of ice cream. As they personally hand the ice cream to each customer from the window and she, nor any employee handed me my cup, it was ridiculous that she went back and forth with me. I went back to the ordering line and followed. She attempted to insist that I had received my ice cream order. Once I told her to bring over the worker who took my order, she finally backed down and begrudgingly stated “someone took your order, we will scoop you another cup” as if she was doing me a favor. The way their system is set up, it is not possible for another customer to “take” my order. She should have simply apologized for the error and gave me my ice cream. This ridiculous encounter over a $6 ice cream has led this order to be my last order. The ice cream is certainly not that appetizing to deal with such nonsense. I will stick to C&C Creamery and Bredenbecks who have quality ice cream and far better service...
Read moreShort version- Despite charging $6 for an ice cream cone, it is Zsa’s policy to not replace the ice cream of a little kid who dropped their cone. Parents beware of this overpriced, unkind ice cream shop.
Long version- I took my 6 and 9 year old girls to Zsa’s for a cone on a hot afternoon recently. With her first lick, my nine year watched her ice cream scoop roll of the cone onto the sidewalk. Like all of us who have done this as kids, she was upset and I told her not to worry because we would get her another cone. We returned to Zsa’s immediately and when presented with the situation, the Zsa’s employee told us that it is Zsa’s policy to not give away free ice cream and told me I would have to buy another. After I told her I would not and would never return to Zsa’s, she flashed a large, sarcastic smile and wished me a good day.
Nevermind that it was probably Zsa’s fault for not putting the scoop on the cone well. Nevermind that they charge $6 per cone and so they can probably afford it. Even if neither of these things are true, isn’t it ice cream parlor management 101 to replace fallen cones? If not from a good business perspective (parents must constitute a large percentage of their customers) isn’t this true from basic human decency?
Zsa’s is an overpriced, miserly and unkind establishment staffed by at least one unpleasant young woman. I will never return and encourage any parents or anyone who can remember the feeling of dropping a cone when you were a kid to...
