We were big fans of Amasi when they first opened, but the direction they are going is not something we can support. It was a decent value, good food, and you felt welcomed, However they have lost us as a customer because they have resorted to nickle and diming. We went to Amasi 2 - 3 times a month since they opened. Ordering at least 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, and deserts.
They have updated the menu twice, the first time to add more items, the second time a few new things and to add a lunch menu.
One of the items added is the Amasi Maza. It's a dip appetizer with 3 falafels, 2 Kibbi, 2 small pieces of fried cauliflower and 5 different dips for $23.00
Sounds great right? Except they only give you 3 small pitas for the entire table. If you want more pita bread so you can actually use more than just a small amount of the dips you're paying for, they now charge you for 3 more small pita bread pieces which still won't be enough. So now you paid $23, plus an extra order of bread, to still be left with more than half your dip left over.
Then try to take any of that home... Good luck... They may (but most likely won't have them at the time) containers that will work to bring them home. You get 1 to go container for the left over dip which means they all get mixed up together... And yes if you want any pita bread to go with your left over dip, it's yet another extra charge.
The first time they tried to charge us for a second basket of pita bread we complained and told them that if this is going to be the policy going forward and they are not going to include at least 1 additional basket with the Maza we won't be returning. They took it off the bill that time.
We went back and they hadn't changed. They offered to take it off the bill the second time and we said no, decided to skip dessert, paid our bill and left.
The owner response is exactly why we won't be back.

Read moreI am writing this with a very heavy heart, because it is never easy to realize that a place you once supported for the last 3 years does not support you in return. Today, at Amasis, I was disrespected in a way that cut to the core. As a woman, being called "sir" in front of other customers was humiliating, degrading, and a blatant reminder that bigotry is still alive and well, even in small moments like these. The woman with dark hair at the counter, made me feel humiliated, invisible, unwelcome, and utterly dehumanized. For LGBTQ+ people and allies reading this, please hear me - no one deserves to be treated this way. Being misgendered is not a "mistake" when it is said with disdain. It is an act of cruelty. It tells someone that who they are does not matter. That they are not seen. That they are not safe.
This was once a place filled with warmth, especially when Torrianne and Guinny were working. Their kindness, their smiles, their humanity lit up this restaurant. They made everyone feel welcome, no matter who you were. But ever since they left, the light has gone out of this place... replaced with slow service, declining food quality, and a chilling lack of basic respect.
The atmosphere now feels cold, judgmental, and hostile. It is heartbreaking to realize how far this place has fallen. The level of service is not the same anymore either and I will never step foot into Amasis again, and I urge my LGBTQ+ family and allies not to either. No meal is worth sacrificing your dignity. No restaurant is worth enduring disrespect. We deserve better than this and all of us, we must support businesses that see our humanity, not erase it. If you believe in kindness, in decency, in basic human respect. Amasis is not the...
Read moreI recently visited Amasi Restaurant for dinner for the buffet, and was very happy with the food and the atmosphere, as well as the prices. Unfortunately, the service was somewhat disappointing. The buffet runs from 6pm to 9pm, but although we arrived at 6pm and were immediately seated, it was another 15 minutes before the buffet was open. During that time, nobody brought us water, bread, or asked if we wanted to order something to drink. Even when we eventually got some food and started eating, it was several minutes more before anyone came over to take our drink order and bring bread to the table. Then, we proceeded to go up to the buffet 3 more times for dinner and dessert, and during that whole time nobody came back to our table to see if we needed anything or to clear away our used plates. Our glasses were all empty, our breadbasket was empty, and we had used plates all over the table. A girl did eventually come over and start clearing off our table but by then were had already finished eating and were waiting for our check. Also, the buffet also ran out of clean dinner plates, so people had to start putting all their food on small salad plates (those eventually ran out as well). As an added note, it seems like the woman who greeted us at the door and seated us, was also the "waitress" who was serving the tables, and was also doing various other tasks throughout the restaurant. They don't seem to have much of a staff. The few other employees who were there didn't seem to be doing much and weren't friendly at all. They barely even spoke. Although we enjoyed the taste of variety of food, this is not a place that we would regularly come to, due to the...
