On Sunday, I called ahead to check if I could bring my Chihuahua in for a to go order and the young man was rather pleasant about it.
I came in and ordered the before 3 special of two slices and a soda for a total $5.41. What a deal! That is, until my card refused to work!š³š³š³ The horror and embarrassment! To say the least, a stranger who had walked in after me was kind enough to take care of it. *Thank you dear stranger. * The pizza was delish so I knew I'd be back.
I returned yesterday, and ordered an entire pizza since it is a good deal for a medium pizza. It's 12 inch, was made hot and fresh and man oh man, all that cheese and pepperoni hit the spot. Quick service for sure! Had lots of leftovers for. A great thing was that the soda was refillable.
The place was almost completely empty while I was there, and very clean, with a steady flow of people dropping in. The staff was friendly and very accommodating as well. I am not into tv and music but they had plenty of flats screens with news and sports.
The place is child friendly and I was surprised to see an old school game at the entrance, and a small play area in the back corner for children. There is an outlet back there if your phone needs charged and mine certainly needed it. The place is also good for larger groups and they had plenty of sitting space for them as well.
Downside; Music was a bit too loud and definitely not my choice, but I had headphones so that took care of that. Also, for a place that may have a Sunday crowd, there are only two stalls in the ladies bathrooms, and that would not accommodate a crowd. The bathroom also was a bit dim lit and little ventilation, so best advise it to use it before you leave from wherever before you go there.
I am surprised this place is not crowded but it could be because there are other competition around. Barro's pizza can not be topped to it's nearby competitors, so it also could be that people are not aware it's there, or they may simply need more advertising or bigger signs. I know it's recently opened, but I walked my dog almost everyday past there, and never noticed it.
If I could make a suggestion to Barro's, it would be to add other methods of payments like Zelle or Cash App. * I thought of this on my way back home that I could have paid the stranger back that way and I even called back to see if he was there but he was gone.* I made the suggestion to the manager, and he too pitched a similar idea with Apple pay but apparently the owner is old school, which is understandable. But it is definitely worth considering, if a customer runs into an issue like mine.
Overall, I would suggest that every Arizonian and visitor stop in and get a taste of Barro's pizza. It's fast, deelish, affordable, and the middle of downtown, near public transportation, clean place, great staff, child and adult friendly; And a place good for carrying cash in case your card don't...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreEDIT: I am editing this review as a result of Barros calling me to apologize for the inconvenience and offer me a discount on my next order. Would I have received any follow up if not for this review.. probably not because its the squeeky wheel that gets the grease but I do appreciate the gesture all the same. Again, I want to reiterate that 9 times out of 10 theres no issue and Barros brings the best tasting pizza in town. The mobile app makes it super quick and easy in that I can literally place an order within less than a minute (since I usually always order the same thing its as easy as choosing "same as last order" choosing my card thats saved and tip and pizza's ordered with an estimated time for delivery anywhere between 45-90 minutes depending on the day and time). Thank you for reaching out to make up for the poor order experience. Still wont order my pizzas from anyone else.
I order from Barros any time we want pizza, theyāre our go to. As far as the pizzaās go, theyāre clearly very good in our opinion. The reason for a poor review has to do with the service or lack there of. Dont get me wrong, majority of the time my pizzas are delivered on time without issue. Its the times when they are not that has influenced this review. I placed an order for a pizza at 8:25 pm and it says estimated 90 minutes for delivery. ok well we wait... and wait.. and wait... and finally at 10:20 I call and ask if the pizzaās on the way and am told No they cancelled it because there was confusion on their end.... ????!!! If youāre confused... why not call to become unconfused? and whats more, if youāre cancelling my order dont you think it might be a good decision to at least inform the people waiting on dinner that you wont be bringing it so they (We) can figure something else out before its already past 10pm?! Kid on the phone makes it sound like its all good it was refunded like that makes everything all good. Not cool Barros. And then to not even offer something in exchange for your error like a discount for next time I try to order or a free desert even.. terrible customer service tonight .. this isnt the first time but 9/10 times my orders are fine.. the 1/10 like this could have been avoided with a simple phone call when you decided youāre too confused about an order for a pepperoni pizza to an address thats placed hundreds of orders...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOrdered delivery online and it said it would take 2 hours only after I paidā¦fine, I get it they were busy and most likely short staffed so, I called and asked to make it pickup instead. The girl on the phone said, we will refund you the delivery fee..I asked about the tip that I had prepaid for the driver and she said, āoh that goes to meā..and I said, āI would like it refunded cause I have to come pick it up and use my own gas and timeā and she said, āIāll see what I can doā. So fast forward to me picking it up, same girl as I talked with on the phone and she hands me the pizza and says have a good night and I asked about the refund for the tip, still intending on tipping her, just not as much as I would have tipped the driver. She reaches into the register and hands me the tip money and said, āwhen a customer changes the order from delivery to pick up, the counter girl usually gets to keep the tip..I only make $9 ya knowā. That was so uncalled for and Iām sorry, but Iām not tipping you the same as someone who uses their own car and gas money to deliver my pizza. Also, I ordered online and picked up the pizza so I didnāt feel that that the amount of tip that I woulda given the driver was warranted to someone who literally just handed me a box. ALSO itās not my fault that barros only pays you $9 and customers should not be focused into compensating their employees wages. Her response was rude and itās bad policy to not state delivery time prior to the payment being made and also not refunding the delivery tip.
The pizza was good as always, but the service from the girl...
