5-Star Stay at Embassy Suites Phoenix Downtown! From the moment we checked in, things started off a little rocky—but that quickly changed thanks to the incredible front desk staff. I'm writing this glowing review because of one person in particular: Shaina. She was kind, warm, and welcoming from the start. Her soft, loving voice, empathy, and compassion made us feel right at home. She’s an absolute joy and a true asset to the team. Shaina front desk also gave us some great local tips and recommendations for places to go in the area, which made our trip even better. The happy hour is definitely worth checking out! The bartender—who I nicknamed “Long Island” (he’s originally from there)—was amazing. Friendly, fun, and made great drinks. He really helped make the evenings enjoyable. The housekeeping staff were phenomenal as well—very thorough and respectful. And a special shoutout to the maintenance guy who quickly and efficiently fixed an issue in my room. Super professional. I give this place an 8 there’s a few people that make this place nice but there’s a couple people that needs to work on things and will absolutely stay here again. If you're looking for a great place to stay in Phoenix, I highly recommend the Embassy Suites Downtown. It was like extremely uncomfortable. I did not sleep well at all. I was in room 203. I’m leaving today going back home and I cannot really wait to Go. The service is phenomenal, but the wings are not worth it. I do need to update my review. There was a staff member, I believe his name was Steve or Stephen, and his attitude was just not it. I said hello, being friendly, and he hit me with: “You’re trying to have a conversation from a mile away.” Mind you — I was standing right at the desk. It was rude, unnecessary, and honestly kind of gross energy. Very standoffish and not welcoming at all. I have stayed in some great Embassy Suites in the past (in other cities). This was a business trip so was booked by agency, and I had no choice in the selection. The rooms are very small. I'm from the northeast, and there are larger rooms in Boston than these "suites" in Phoenix where space is plentiful compared to 200 year old cities. The housekeeping lacks serious attention to detail. The bath gel and conditioner in the bathroom were empty upon check-in. Shouldn't this be something that gets checked whenever a room turns over? It was late so I made do with shampoo and bar facial soap. Called front desk the following morning to ask housekeeping come by to refill these items and gave them a 4 hour window when I would not be in the room. Housekeeping did not come by. Called the front desk to let them know and gave them a new window for the early afternoon when I would not be in the room and then put a do not disturb sign on the door. 15 minutes later housekeeping begins knocking repeatedly. Called the front desk again to emphasize when the room would be free since housekeeping had missed the requested morning slot to refill basic amenities. Housekeeping finally came by and tidied up the room. To my surprise, they had NOT filled the soap and conditioner.

Otherwise, the gym is rudimentary with a bench, dumbbells (they at least go to 65), and cardio machines (including 1 peloton). The TV is permanently set to Fox News and the channel can't be changed easily. Pool is small and really more for just soaking.

Breakfast is fairly standard for an Embassy Suites with precooked pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, turkey sausage, roast potatoes. There's yogurt, bread, pastries, drip coffee and juice. They offer a limited selection of complimentary drinks from 5:30-7pm at the bar. The bar staff and breakfast staff are nice and perhaps the only bright part of the hotel stay.

The lobby looks nothing like the picture. I guess they renovated and did not update the picture. It's dark and there are no plants or water feature. The hotel feels outdated but in a way its charming. The rooms have the same feel- new tile and such but the original mcm type vibe. The only problem is some stuff is too beat up and needs to be replaced. The sliding door on the balcony DO open but they doors are old and let in the cold air as well as the loud traffic noise from below. The seals should be redone at the very least. We stayed in 425 (4th floor). Customer service - people were nice but front desk was not clear on a few things and charged the wrong card at checkout even after we gave them the card to cover the stay. They also canceled my parking ticket before I could get out of the garage. If that happens tou have to reverse go park again then walk back inside to request a new pass. Very annoying. The parking f garage height limit is 6' 10" so do t drive your lifted truck or else you have to park on the street. The website offers late check out for a fee but it means NOTHING. There is some approval process that needs to be completed to actually get a late check out even if you added it to the reservation you made online and the fee is charged on your card. That was also inconvenient and an unwelcome surprise traveling with a 1 year old. Oh and the best part - when you check in they give you a coupon for two free drinks in the lobby restaurant/bar but they don't tell you it's only for some certain drinks in a special area so when we ordered our drinks at the restaurant with our food we didn't know that wasn't part of this special. The cost isn't the big issue with this, it's more of the principle of the matter don't give me a coupon for a free drink without a clear disclaimer that not all drinks are free just the drinks set out on a table in a certain section. The lobby is freezing and you have to wear a jacket to eat your food in the morning and evening. It wasn't terrible but I don't think I'd stay here again...
