Captain Bill's Submarine — Restaurant in Phoenix

Met owners today and they were HORRIBLE!!!!! DO NOT EVER want to support this business regardless of food or prices!!! Here’s my story: Went to restaurant with my sons entire basketball team and their families today. Brought in a ton of business for this place. We are a club basketball team so tournament weekends are frequent and require a lot of eating out and extra family expenses. My family and I were budgeting (as we are a 1 income family) and we brought our own packed lunch this weekend to save money on eating out as a family of 4, eating out can be expensive especially multiple times in a weekend. I was sitting there with my 2 young children and the owner decided to make a scene and announce my situation!!!!

I was humiliated and disgusted that she would make such a big deal out of a situation she knew NOTHING about and that she would put so much energy into making a mom feel less than good about taking care of her family when in reality it brought business in to the restaurant and money in her pocket.

People like this should be ashamed of themselves and this is what is wrong in our country.

It is not a big deal that a packed lunch was brought into the restaurant, it’s a big deal because a restaurant that prides themselves on being inexpensive, family oriented and all about the “mom and pop business”, acted selfish, egotistical and supported the negative american judgment created by people like this by thinking they are better than everyone else because they give into the “I’m better than you” attitude!!!!

I was personally humiliated and my family was humiliated and the couple (specifically the female) that caused this situation should be far more humiliated and apologetic at the situation that they caused!!!!!

I suggest to NOT support this business and what they stand for!!!!!! Food and prices may be appealing, but morals and ethics are absolutely lacking!!!!!

Situation above may seem minual to many but it was very much a real situation that I hope many do not have to...

This place blows subway and most other sub place out of the water their bread is amazing for which to me is one of the most important parts of a well-made sub unlike subway where they say their bread is fresh and you can see it cooking in the oven but somehow you get stale bread. their meat is very good as well you can't go wrong with Boars Head unlike subway where you can get meat that looks like it's been manufactured from a factory I order the same thing every time from Captain Bill's footlong pastrami with Swiss and mustard. Subway did have a pastrami sandwich on their menu at one time which its no longer there I did try it cause there right next to my work and it was like chewing on rubber bands and I couldn't even eat it! I guess that's why they took it off the menu and no longer offer it. Another great thing about captain's is the staff they're young women that are professional and polite. I go to subway and most of their employees look like they could work at a head shop selling crack pipes and to be honest kind of gross me out I'm not saying all of them but most of them and for the most part have really bad attitudes when it comes to their job there has been about a dozen subways where I just cancelled my order and walked out because of how dirty the store was or how rude the employee was and you could tell the people that work there just didn't care about there jobs I'm bringing up subway as a comparison because I see a lot of reviews that are using subway as a reference for comparing it. To me subway is not even in the same ballpark as captain Bill's as far as I'm concerned. Once you try it you'll be hooked. The only problem I have with Captain Bill is a wish they had...

The food is good and so are the prices. Location is so-so, but at night is sketchy with the people around and their 'activities'.

Unfortunately the owner has no idea how to run a business and operates unethically and some things illegally.

NOTE: the girls DO NOT get all of their tips. It is a tip share and the owner does not distribute appropriately. Depends on who her favorites are that week. She keeps some of the tips and tells the girls "she is paying a portion of their taxes for them." They are paid min wage and they do not use the tip credit method.

The owner: does not give them the required sick time allocated by AZ law beginning 7/1/17 either fills out their I-9, W-4, A-4, and HR paperwork for them or doesn't do it at all doesn't post the appropriate HR and labor posters does not distribute tips appropriately is verbally abusive to the majority of the girls and allows her supervisors/managers to be as well - this can be a very hostile working environment will only hire "cute young girls" plays favorites with staff for her daughter and her friends when it comes to schedule, hours, and tips requires all of them to be "on-call" to come into work 4-7 days a week when they aren't scheduled and MUST come in if called or they lose tips, schedule, and respect. They are not compensated for their "on-call hours"

This place does not teach appropriate working ethics for the young generation.

This place will be legally reported for not following legal statutory requirements in pay, employee rights, discrimination, and allowing a hostile work...
