Dahlia’s truly made me excited about the future of food in Phoenix. When my family first moved here from California over 20 years ago, we were quite shocked by the food scene in Phoenix. As I have essentially grown up here, I have seen the food scene explode, though not every place has been a winner. That is not the case with Dahlia’s. Are they in their beginning stages? Yes. However, I have no doubt that they will continue to improve on their already existing greatness and compete with some of the top restaurants in Phoenix. In my humble opinion, they are already beginning to.
When my party, consisting of a friend from out of town and my partner, arrived at our reservation, we were greeted by name at the door. We walked into a small but very charming establishment with an impressive-looking bar and amazing aromas coming from the kitchen. We began with the Pan con Tomate, which was delicious and simple, showcasing the importance of good quality down to even the bread. Additionally, we ordered Spanish Dates with Potato Croquettes. Both were delicious, but the Potato Croquettes were something I wish I could eat for the rest of my life—they were so crispy and had the most amazing sauces.
Then we ordered what some might say was the star of the meal, although I am a sides girl through and through. We ordered two 20 oz Argentinian Ribeyes for our table of three. They were cooked to perfection and had such great flavor. Now, the only critique I have, which may come down to individual preference, is the Chimichurri. It wasn’t bad, of course, but it wasn’t the best I’ve had. To me, it mostly tasted like infused oil with some parsley at the bottom.
Now on to the cocktails. I ordered two drinks, the Como La Flor and the Mal Verde, both of which the server helped me decide on because, to be quite truthful, unless a drink is sweet, I will not enjoy it. The Como La Flor was great. I do enjoy gin and thought the entire drink was paired beautifully. The Mal Verde was, in many ways, a refined piña colada, and I mean that in the best possible way as someone who enjoys piña coladas.
The service was attentive, and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. While we made a risky move by trying out a restaurant we had never been to before with a friend from out of town, we have no regrets. We look forward to returning to Dahlia’s for another wonderful...

Read moreMe and my wife came here for our anniversary, and I set our reservations right at 5pm when they opened to which we got there a little early and they were nice enough to let us come in and use the bathroom. After that we got seated, then as we waited for them to set up, I walked around and took pictures and will say although it's in an older house everything was nicely set and cozy!...I liked the lighting and everything, it was simple but cozy and romantic in a sense inside and outside. As the waiter took our order I went with the Argentinian Beef Ribeye which was a 20oz Ribeye with grilled onions and the dipping sauces were Salsa Roja & Chimichurri. The Ribeye and dipping sauces were delicious....but...I was hoping that there would be a side/sides like brussel sprouts, asparagus or a baked potatoe or a fried corn or something...Nothing but a little bit of grilled onions. My wife ordered The Tostada Trio which was 3 different tostadas that were vegetarian except the chicken tostada. They were Chipotle Chicken Tinga, Harissa glazed carrot, & Creamy Avocado Tostada. I tried all 3 and they were interesting!...in a good way. The drinks were good as well, we had the "La Cantabria"-Dharma gin, Bitter Truth Violet Liqeuer Lemon, Agave & the "Guavalajara"- Mezcal, Aperitivo, Guava Puree, Lime Agave (Which was basically a Margarita). It was a bit pricey but the food was good as well as the drinks. The dessert was like a dark chocolate cheesecake without flour which was pretty good. If your in the mood for something different give Dahlia Tapas Tequila...
