I've been a fan of this restaurant for several years since it opened, but I will not be returning
When I got to the cashier today to place my order, I simply asked "what does the Carne Asada taco taste like." The cashier proceeded to tell me several times that she did not know how to answer the question and looked at me strangely like I was asking a weird question. She said "what do you mean?"
I said "I mean, what's the flavor? Is it salty? Savory? Does it mimic beef"
She just looked at me confused and said "I don't know how to answer that." And then asked her coworker to answer my question and they both just stared at me like I was from outer space.
It does not matter what industry you are working in, if someone who's about to give you money for a product or service asked you a question about that product or service that you dont know the answer to, your response is "that's a good question. Let me go get the answer" or "I don't know, but let me find someone who does."
I am on a tight budget and I take care of a sick loved one so I don't get out very often and through fault of my own I do not speak Spanish and I have not eaten meat in almost a decade so I don't know the difference between Carne Asada and Carnitas so maybe to them it sounded like a strange question but I am a paying customer so please just answer the question.
Then I was sitting outside, and the cashier brought the food to me. I asked if they had cutlery. She said "you can go inside it's in the back"
I told her I was concerned about a homeless person or someone taking my food. Which is not an irrational concern because the last time I ate at Earth on the patio homeless people did harass me and ask me for food.
I just paid $22 for this meal. I don't want to leave it unattended
She just looked at me confused or like I was crazy or mean or something and then just open the door for me to go inside to get my fork myself I don't mind getting it but in hospitality someone just gave you some money you're supposed to say, let me go get that for you or let me send it out for you. Especially if they told you they're concerned about leaving their food alone that's just out of common courtesy.
Better yet when I'm giving you my debit card, tell me where to get the cutlery at that time or hand it to me when you hand me my receipt so you create a nice flow of service. don't make me leave my expensive food outside where a bird or bug or a person can do God knows what to it
When I asked to speak to a manager, I was told that they were not in yet. When I asked what time they would be in so I could follow up they said "i don't know. they are just in and out randomly."
Again, I've worked in restaurants in hospitality. I don't ever remember a restaurant being able to run without a manager on duty (MOD) every shift in case of emergencies at least
And then I heard something drop behind me and it turns out it was a cup, so I've bend over to get it, but I noticed a young man staring at me. I was wondering why he was staring at me and then he took the cu I just sat on the table and ran it to the back of the house so he was a staff member
If you see something fall in a restaurant that you work in, don't let guest pick it up. intervene and say "oh no, allow me" something. do your job. you're getting paid to pick up stuff off the floor, not me. I'm doing it because I'm a good citizen. I dont mind BUT you just stand there and stare at me while I do YOURE job is unacceptable.
The fries I had were amazing they were topped with vegan chorizo and avocado sauce and salsa. They were so great. the tacos were good but the tortillas were cold and the portion size had like a tablespoon of taco filling so it wasn't full as advertised and I understand that's probably due to inflation, but again you're charging me more for smaller portions and no...
Read moreMy family absolutely loves Earth. Hands down they have the best vegan wings in the valley, and the rest of their food is incredible too. It's a cute restaurant with positive vibes. The customer service is pretty hit or miss, for instance sometimes they are there ready to go if you need anything, other times they aren't behind the counter for ten to fifteen minutes so you kind of just have to wait. Also this isn't the kind of restaurant that puts the customer first over their dollar, which is fine if you know what you're going into, but on my last visit I ordered two rice and beans and the worker thought I meant one rice and one beans and when I came back after we didn't get the second order to ask she charged me for the second order of rice and beans when we had already spent close to 100 dollars and the error was on her part. Also the fries don't come with any dipping sauce and when they got to our table on the last trip and asked for ranch for dipping the server told me "no, you didn't order any. You'd have to go order and pay for it." Which again, I understand wanting to make that extra 75¢ they'd probably make from the ranch but it felt really weird as a customer like they really needed to nickel and dime me. Overall you should absolutely eat here, just make sure you know what you want when you're ordering, be clear about how many of what things you want, and make sure to order your dipping sauces...
Read moreone of my favorite vegan restaurants in Phoenix! the food is AMAZING, the individual attention that the Earth team shows you makes you feel at home. i love their food, it is delicious. my dad (who is not vegan) loves to go to Earth because the food, ambient, and the service makes him feel great. he also does not speak english, so finding places where he can order in spanish is great. everytime i eat, i like to bring my mom whatever i am trying all the way down to Mexico!!! here Sonora (even my brother, who is also not vegan, says that your wings are the best he has tasted 👀👀 that speaks volumes you guys!!!) i love supporting vegan places and restaurants, it is the best choice one can take. animals do not need to suffer and be exploited so we can enjoy a delicious, fun, and nutritious meal/drink. i always share my excitement and happiness when i see that earth and goji are full with people enjoying a cruelty free meal/drink hahaha!! 😆 thank you so much, i am always hoping for the best of you and all the vegan restaurants that are making a huge difference in this non-vegan world. so remember, support local and support your local vegan places!! 🌱🐮🖤🫶🫶
