I just moved to downtown Phoenix from NYC nine (9) months ago and have been searching relentlessly for a classic NY style HERO!!!!
Well, I need to search no more (sorry for the bad english, but I mean business...). Frank's Deli is everything! My guy knew how sad I was about not having a taste of home, did his research, and found this place for me.
Upon walking in, it was already authentic in its feel, so I knew I was in the right place. I told the gentleman at the register that if the hero wasn't good, I'm going to lose my 'ish...well, he responded by saying, 'If you don't like it, you don't have to come back." Mind you, he said it in a sarcastic, friendly way, so I embraced the confidence.
Either way, he was right to have that attitude. I ordered a typical turkey and cheese with all the fixins and was soooo HAPPY!
The mayo was flavorful, the bread was a perfect balance of soft and textured, and the meat, cheese, and L&T were fresh and perfectly positioned within the bread.
Do not walk, RUN to this place if you want a delicious hero. You will not be sorry.
My only complaint was that they call the heroes "subs" š. I guess you can't win at everything. I digress...
In closing, this business has been here for almost 40 years, family owned and operated... the grandson assisted me, mom made the hero, and they even shared pictures of the family with me from years passed.
Give these folks a try. It was/is a great find. I can't wait to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOK, Iāve been told I have the golden touch when I put a review. Letās hope this happens here, but Iām kind of scared because I really like this place, and I donāt want them getting too big where thereās Services and their food is not gonna take to save, but let me tell you something you guys. I am Jersey Mike type of gal, but save your money and go to the spot. Seriously. It is so freaking delicious. I donāt know if itās the meat or the sauces that they put on it, but it is absolutely delicious. I donāt know who the heck is Tony, but Tony, they did you, Justice, sweetheart. Cause this sub was delicious, which is the name of the sub that I had.. It was probably one of the best freaking subs Iāve ever had. I did a Doordash here, and I smelled the food and it smells delicious, but the one thing that I noticed the most was that everybody kept walking out, smiling and happy with their freaking food in their hand and I was like oh my God. It smells delicious, but letās see. I had to come back. I went back to the next day and sure oh my God did not disappoint. Sorry this review so long, but itās so delicious. Totally recommend the people. There are absolutely phenomenal. Theyāre such a sweetheart. And the food is...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI visited here earlier this week after I found them on Google when I was looking for a sandwich shop. Small mom and pop place, and the young man at the counter said that his mom was the one making my sandwich. She made me a better sandwich than my own mom :) Anyways, I ordered The Tony (as is) and I LOVED it. Whatever magical mayo and other fixings they put on it made it super good. Usually, I do not like to order a sandwich with that much meat because they are usually way too salty, but the meat they use is not salty or cheap tasting at all. Also, the sandwiches are MASSIVE, especially for the price. One (at least of what I ordered) can easily feed 2 people. Also, their cheesecake and pickles are really good. They do have places to sit and eat, though I was in a hurry and ate in my car. The rest of the store has some snacks and drinks, like a small convenience store. They sell Cactus Cooler, for those of you who are always on the hunt for it :)
I will be going back, and more than likely it...
