When I arrived for my first time , I was placing an order to go. One of the young ladies at the front register appeared to be having a very hard time hearing me speak over the noise and volume of the customer's talking, dishes clashing, and the people talking as they pass by to enter and exit the restaurant. I walked closer to the counter so she could hear me better only to realize she was sarcastic and rude. She did greet me, then she went straight to asking was it dine in, pick up, or carry out. So I replied it was neither and I would like to place my order to go. She then asked in a rushy manner, ok what would you like. I stated it was my first visit and I would like to look at a menu. She handed me the menu then quickly asked now what would you like to order without allowing me space & time to review the menu. I immediately started feeling rushed and annoyed by her attitude. So I asked "May I look at the menu first?" she acted as if she couldn't hear what I said and stated to me in a ruff, loud, and abrupt tone, "what! you know I can't hear you" So I repeated myself and stepped away from the counter to read the menu. As I reapproached the counter to place my order, again she acted as if she couldn't hear me say I'm ready to order. Every person before me that she helped, I observed her talking and smiling and never mentioned that she had difficulty hearing them.🤔 After finally placing my order she says "it looks like you need a menu with bigger letters so you can see it" It was mildy lit at the entrance and the lighting at the counter was low making it difficult for anyone with a visual impairment to see or read the menu. I struggled to read the menu with using my flashlight from my cellphone to see. My final question to her was how long will it take to prepare the food? She snapped her finger and stated "Well, you know this not Panda Express, you don't get the food right away, we have to make it then cook it, you know" By this time my patience with her attitude was thinner than a spaghetti noodle!! Her Customer Service etiquette definitely needed reviewing. I politely looked her in the face eyeball to eyeball and said " Ma'am, I'm not dumb, I know where I am!" Then the final straw was when I returned after waiting outside for 15 mins to pick up my order, another grumpy older lady said "how can I help you, you been helped" all in the same sentence. I said I'm waiting for my order. She wasn't pleasant to talk to nor did she smile. She didn't know where my order was, asked for my name twice, then found my order, handed it to me then pulled it back quickly and said "did you pay?" I stated yes I did and reached for my receipt in my purse. The whole time other customers were standing around watching this whole situation play out. It was so messy and unprofessional!! I couldn't believe this happened in Biltmore and I just recently moved from the apartments across the street. I had never gone to eat here before. Needless to say I've had better and I rate the food 4, the experience & customer service 0. She 0laced my order before she asked what size I wanted so I assume it was a large for the price I paid. I found another place in Surprise, AZ that is cheaper, larger aize and better quality and taste Guess I'll have to drive farther for better service. Great Customer Service is important if you want to build a good reputation with the customers and...
Read moreI grew up in New York — awesome Chinese food. I’ve lived in San Francisco and Los Angeles — Phenomenal Chinese Food. So it has been a sadness for me that the Chinese Food game in Phoenix has been downright meh, at best, since I first moved here. Until now...
George Yang’s is exactly the Chinese Restaurant I’ve been waiting for! Clean, modern decor. An eclectic menu with plenty of traditional choices like beef with broccoli and mu shu pork, offset by more gourmet selections such as black truffle filet mignon and Kung Pao three ways (shrimp, scallops and fish fillet). We ordered New York style egg rolls which had a bizarre but oh so delicious combo of shrimp, pork and peanut butter sauce in a large crispy egg roll. The pork spring roll was LOADED with ground pork seasoned perfectly. So much better than the over-cabbaged spring rolls you get anywhere else in town. For mains we had beef with broccoli and mu shu pork and for rice we ordered the black truffle fried rice. The b&b was amazing! Tender high quality beef, gorgeous bright green fresh broccoli, served at the perfect firmness and the sauce was every bit as good as the way they made it at Homer’s back in Syosset, NY. The mu shu was excellent with probably the best hoisin sauce I’ve ever had. The black truffle fried rice made me think I’d died and gone to heaven. Absolutely fantastic!
Prices are better than fair as everything I just listed came to just under $60 including tax.
The service was friendly and attentive. The food came out fairly quickly, but not so quickly that it made us think it was pre-prepped.
I give a whole-hearted five stars to George Yang’s Chinese Restaurant. I’ve waited so, so long for Chinese food like...
Read moreNewly remodeled from the last Chinese restaurant. They had decent lunch specials. I did want to order a the shrimp and chicken dragon meal, but when I asked what kind of sauce it was sautéed in the male waiter was rude and just said “it’s a brown sauce”. So, I asked again what kind of sauce is a brown sauce, is it like gravy? Does it taste like sesame seeds? Perhaps onion? But the waiter said three times total “it’s just a brown sauce”. I could tell he was annoyed for me asking so I just dropped it and ordered the Thai chicken basil.
The Thai chicken basil was satisfactory. It wasn’t watered down at all. The noodles however were spaghetti noodles. They have my dad very little rice for his entree dinner that he ordered and he wasn’t happy about that.
The worst thing was they vegetable roll was same rolls you buy from shamrock. Which sales to restaurants. It wasn’t home made. How do I know this is because I too buy these rolls and serve them at parties. They are 20 for 1.98, and are such a good buy. When I saw the roll on my plate my mind immediately knew that this was store bought. This was annoying.
Which brought my attention to the remainder of the meal. When I asked what kind of sauce was in this dragon chicken and shrimp meal the reason why the waiter said annoyingly “ITS A BROWN SAUCE” was because of the fact that they probably bought the sauce pre-made and don’t really know what is in it.
The seats were very uncomfortable as well. My dad also complained that his tea was extremely watered down and he said it tasted spicy.
I would’ve given 3 stars but due to the rudeness of my waiter I’m...
