Tried to order for delivery this evening. The first odd thing was that, after the order went through, no confirmation email came across. A quick look at my credit card online showed payment had been made, though, so I thought I'd wait the 30-45 minutes the website had quoted.
The second odd thing happened about 40 minutes later; I got a confirmation email saying my order has been received and should arrive... about five minutes before the email came in.
While I was trying to understand what was happening, I received a call from the third party ordering service to tell me that they were unable to reach the restaurant and that they had manually initiated the confirmation email but couldn't be sure the restaurant was even open. When asked how they were proposing to resolve the situation, they said they'd keep trying to call the restaurant, and hung up. That was the last I heard from the third party ordering service.
I decided to call the restaurant. They didn't answer. I tried one more time, and they picked up the phone. They confirmed my order had been placed, and would be delivered in about 40 more minutes, so around 90 minutes after I'd first ordered. I let them know that I'd prefer to come pick it up. They agreed. All was well, or so I thought.
You see, not only do they have a third party vendor handling online orders, they also outsource delivery to DoorDash. No one told the Door Dasher that this order had been changed to pickup, so they showed up to pick up the order.
Fortunately, Door Dash notified me that my Dasher had arrived at the restaurant before I left to go get my pizza. I was able to contact the person and confirm the food would be on it's way shortly. Not wanting to cause trouble for them or increase the confusion of this already weird ordering experience, I figured it was best to just be patient and let them deliver.
Finally, of course, is the food itself. It was ok. Nothing as good as Spinato's, Federal, or Sauce, and definitely more expensive than I thought it was worth. It didn't help that they got the order wrong, left off topings I'd paid extra for, and gave me plain cheesecake instead of the chocolate I'd ordered. All around, it wasn't really worth the...
Read moreLet me start off by saying if this pizzeria we're in New York City they will be out of business within a few days, the pizza is nowhere's near anything like New York pizza.
The crust of the pizza is very doughy, meaning that the sauce soaked through the crust because the topping was not put on quick enough allowing the watery sauce to soak the dough.
I ordered the Central Park supreme Pizza.
First off like I said the pizza crust was terrible, the sauce was even worse , the sauce was like water, and tasted it like sugar was added 👎
The cheese that was used on the pizza was of poor quality mozzarella not fresh mozzarella. The texture of the crust was not crunchy like a New York pizza, the oil used in the pizza was cheap quality, it did not taste like extra virgin Italian olive oil at all.
I grew up in New York City and this is not New York pizza at all, also the atmosphere in this place reeks of California, and so does the wannabe New York Pizza itself.
The place was not busy at all when I was there, but it took over 40 minutes to get the pizza, we ordered Buffalo wings as a advertiser and the buffalo wings were also tasteless, they were not even mild in flavor, the sauce was disgusting, might as well have put sriracha sauce on them it would at least tasted better!
They had five people working in the kitchen at the time we were there, they barely had any takeout orders, and there were less than 20 people all together in the restaurant at the time.
If a pizza cook in New York took 40 minutes to put out a pizza ihe, or she would have been fired within the first 30 minutes!
No New Yorker would put up with such slow service.
The atmosphere was terrible unlike any New York pizzeria.and certainly was not cozy like being in a New York pizzeria.
People that grew up eating Shakey's pizza, and godfather's Pizza might like what they call New York Pizza, but if you're from New York you'll laugh at it.
Also the service was absolutely horrific!
I would recommend not wasting your time, or your money eating at Crust pizza, if you want a real New York pizza, find a Ray's Pizza near you, that is the closest to New York pizza that in...
Read moreOk I liked Artichoke that was there prior. They always had a good selection of pies and were always super friendly to me.
However I was willing to give this place an honest shake and I still may go back one more time to make sure.
Personally for me, this pizza was just average , nothing special and nothing to really make me want to go back. It might be thin like NYC pizza but it does NOT taste like it. I have personally eaten pizza from NYC as I’m an east coaster. I have tried others here in town and personally this one just doesn’t make the cut. I had the cheese pizza with meatball topping.
Where it fails is that it was floppy, the dough was chewy and the cheese was light, the positive was it was not greasy, see in box photo. They also serve a Neapolitan thick slice which they had on display. I am a sucker for those but even that looked weak under glass which is why I got the other.
Now I have not tried the drinks and I have not tried the other menu items so I would have to go back for an honest opinion. However if they don’t do something to get some more flavor in the pizza then I don’t see this place lasting long at this location and not much of a cut above a...
