This park is really awesome and such a beautiful Community as Claremont it is so wonderful to be able to go to a huge recreational center with so many large field and see them actually all pretty full most of the time I have seen and played almost every kind of sport I can think of here and I would allude to that there is much more coming the rec center seems to have been under construction process as well as the local schools in the area so I'd imagine that they will be fully functioning as before very soon I think there is lots of room to volunteer and get involved around here either as a facilitator coach or a client of the rec center. I really love how well they maintain the grounds seems like they spend a lot of money maintaining the pool and the field the baseball diamond and all of the area it is kept very clean as if there is no debris lying around and very little trash. I love the secret gems that you find like the huge BMX Trail down behind that is free to the public to come and launched their bikes High into the air and have lots of exciting fun. I love that people are so respectful in this area and tend to really get out of one another's way so everybody can have lots of fun and really enjoy the facilities whether it be extreme sports or just some gentle dancing and movement. Some of the stuff I have seen there is karate for jiu jitsu classes I have seen swimming I've seen lots of kids playing at the park of all ages I have seen the courts being constantly used for tennis pickleball basketball and baseball and I'd imagine this is just seasonal events and will rotate through football soccer Frisbee and other things that are often there I'd imagine if you went to meetup.com you would find some great events and also the rec center is online and I have both called them and emailed them and even contacted their social media with questions that I had about getting involved in volunteering as a disabled veteran with lots of time on my hands. This is all I can really think of to say about this park I think it's really super duper duper family friendly and if you're looking to move to this area or get involved this is a great place to start I understand there are many schools in the area and many recreational parks canyons and all kinds of...
Read moreI tried Gyro House 32 for the first time and was definitely disappointed. The gyro had plenty of meat in it but it had so many little bits of nerve and fat and bone, which I've never experienced before in a gyro. With every single bite I had to pick out multiple pieces of nerve and fat out of my mouth and it made the whole experience really really unpleasant. I found myself just wanting to take the meat out and just eat the pita by itself because eating the meat was such a gross experience.
The spinach triangles and falafel both had a very strong dirty oil flavor to them and it's very easy to picture them being cooked in very old dirty dark brown oil. It made the whole thing taste really gross. Other than that, the spinach triangles just taste like spinach. They don't really seem to have any kind of depth of flavor or seasoning. The falafel was very dry and has a tart lemony flavor which I wasn't expecting and was not the most pleasant experience.
On a positive note - The actual pita bread itself is fluffy and soft and thick and tastes amazing. It's perfect. It's exactly what pita should be.
The baklava is the best baklava I've ever had. It's even better than my homemade baklava and that's pretty good. This baklava has such a perfect balance of sweet and crunchy with a delicate undertone of... is that saffron? Orange blossom water? I'm not sure but it's worth driving there just for the baklava.
However the real star of the show is their chocolate cake. They have a gluten-free chocolate cake and a regular piece of chocolate cake - the gluten-free is not a bad choice, it is good... but their regular chocolate cake slice is the best chocolate cake I've ever had in my entire life. It has a layer of dark chocolate ganache on top, followed by a nice thick layer of silky chocolate mousse, followed by a layer of chocolate cake, followed by a thinner layer of chocolate mousse, followed by an Oreo cookie crust. It is by far the best thing I've eaten probably in my life. Wow. Absolutely incredible. I just wish their food matched the stellar quality of that cake... but so few things in life can.
The food I give a one star, but their cake and baklava, definite five stars. Definitely worth a drive over just for...
Read moreI was hoping to really like this place but was greatly disappointed. I'm not sure that it can be called Mediterranean food. We had the chicken Shawarma and grape leaves. First the Shawarma is just a cut up chicken breast over seasoned with black pepper. Living in the Detroit, MI metro area for over 20yrs I have eaten a lot of middle eastern food and have never had a dish like this called shawarma. There are many varieties of shawarma (from different regions) but they all share similarities in how they are made and seasoned and this isn't even close. I have also eaten shawarma in Greece and still not the same. The rice other than having a yellow coloring was mostly flavorless. The stewed vegetables were nothing more than green beans (tasted canned) and tomatoes. Most vegetables served with shawarma include root veggies; carrots, turnips, beets etc. The hummus was bland and is likely not house made. The grape leaves I didn't even find edible I'm not sure of the filling it was very mushy and didn't have any meat (not all dolmas do). The gyro's might be good here but I would stay away from the shawarma and grape leaves. I am hard pressed to give any restaurant less than 3 stars unless it is dirty etc., and I will stop in sometime and give a simply gyro a try. The Tzatziki was actually pretty good. This may be typical middle eastern for Phoenix area but is...
