If i can give this place 0 stars i would. happy hour ends at 6 and i walked in to meet friends at 558 and tried to motion for the server oney and she ignored me. when i sat down my table of 8 advised that the server oney had barely came over and was only talking to two of the girls at the table. we all waited until 611 and she finally came over when i advised that ive been waiting here before time and wanted to know if i can get a drink from the happy hour since i was waiting before time and she advised that she cant put it in the system and that shes sorry. i asked to speak to someone else because it also shouldnt take 15 minutes for here to come over (regardless if i couldnt get the happy hour deal it’s unacceptable for a large table to sit with little to no interaction). she walked away and came back to our table at 620 and only talked to the two younger girls at our table about their drinks while the other six including me sat there and she quickly walked away before anyone could say anything. at 625 i had to flag her down and she advised a manager would come over. the manager came over at 630 and we didnt even know he was a manager as he started to clean the table and then acknowledged after the fact. he then told me i hadnt came in before 6 and he saw me come in after 6. i understand i cut it close but its also the fact that noone has also had drinks or anything for 30 minuted at our table… he just said ill tell her to be more attentive and walked away… the server came back around 640 with the check and they were all wrong (mind you noone asked for the checks but i guess they wanted us to wrap it up) … the vibes seem good but the service was so terrible today and be so inattentive to the table with late food as my counterparts advised. first...
Read moreThis place was quite a nice surprise. We drive past it quite often but for the first couple of years we thought it was a sex toy shop, because of its name, the logo on its big sign, and the outdoor chandelier that looks like it came from Phantom of the Opera. As it turned out, it’s not only a restaurant but a good restaurant, serving Northern New Mexican cuisine. We live part time in Santa Fe, where the Green Chile Cheeseburger is king. Love Craft’s version could compete with the best of Santa Fe. The menu also offers good BBQ, which makes the whole place smell great. Friends told us to be sure to sit on the roof deck, which we did, but we would have been happy to dine at the long downstairs bar or in the low-lit, funky dining room with a swanky-ish feel that keeps it from feeling like a sports bar (several TVs tuned to sports are spaced around the room). The check-in area had kind of a brothel-like feel, which I mean in a good way, which fits with the name, logo, and chandelier, and the Mother’s Day Drag Brunch. The friendly host led us to the roof deck on the cool steel staircase. The deck’s back wall is lined with live cactus, and the front railing is high enough to hide the other Cactus (Cactus Road) below, if you are seated at a table. There’s also a bar on the roof deck, which overlooks the other Cactus. The wines by the bottle fell into our sweet spot for restaurant wines (less than $50), but if you are more of a beer drinker, they have so many on tap that they have a beer-tracker TV screen over the bar, which reminded me of the Departures TVs at the airport. If you happen to have just time-traveled from the Renaissance, they offer Meade and cider too. The food and service were excellent. We’ll be back. YouTube’s...
Read moreI usually enjoy the atmosphere at Lovecraft, but a recent experience left me and my friends feeling uncomfortable. While we were playfully encouraging a friend to have a drink, our server (Trevor) overheard and jumped in with a comment along the lines of, “Don’t fall into peer pressure, only losers drink.” While we initially laughed it off, the comment felt unnecessarily judgmental and out of place.
Later in the evening, the same server randomly pointed out a new employee (Alex) who had just put down our plates and said, “He’s gonna do 5 pushups tonight,” which also felt awkward and unrelated to the conversation. It gave the impression that the new team member was being singled out in front of guests based on appearance or expectations, which didn’t sit right with us.
We brought our concerns to the manager, who initially responded by emphasizing the team's strong morale and camaraderie. While that may be true behind the scenes, we felt it was important to share how things can appear from a guest’s perspective. We then attempted to speak directly and respectfully to the server, (Trevor) suggesting that using someone as an example based on how they look can be hurtful. Unfortunately, his response was dismissive, defensive and an aggressive (in his face) telling our friend to “mind our own business” — which was frustrating, considering he involved us in the first place.
We understand hospitality work can be high-pressure ( I work in the industry), and our intention wasn’t to cause conflict but to advocate for a more respectful and inclusive environment. We hope this feedback is taken in the spirit of growth, because the space has a lot of potential and we’d love to see it foster a more thoughtful and...
