McKenzie's Midtown Tavern — Restaurant in Phoenix

There's a reason there are so many 5 star reviews for this place, and deservedly so!! Although I work a mile from the tavern, this was my first time there. First impression, although just recently opened within the hour, was the cleanliness of the establishment. Not just clean but smelled cleaned - not that "I'm trying to mask the puke/booze and greasy food infused smell from the night before" stench that just cannot be hidden no matter how much bleach and cleaner one tries to use. In fact, I didn't smell ANY cleaning agent - it was just freaking clean. Add to that the license plate and Xmas light infusion that just screams "I bet this place is so much fun when it's crowded" vibe I got. I don't know if the man behind the bar was the owner or an employee, but damn if he wasn't the most calm person behind a bar I have ever met! The music was exactly at the right level and brought me back to my teenage youth of the 80's - no need to strain to hear or participate in a conversation. Food was well above what I was expecting and prices were within the medium as well. Listen, I'm not a bar guy, but I can only take so many trips to the local Mexican joint down the street from my office - and luckily for me I chose well! I'm a fan, and I think anyone who walks away from this establishment...

So I always ride on the side of the canal with my son felt a little hungry noticed that always passed by this small bar so many times passed by I wanted to try it out so I told my son to wait outside while I ordered food on a Sunday just a few people inside and no greeting no welcome and wait about say about 20 minutes nobody even say nothing to me was starving trying to eat something the menu looks very good so I decided to just leave instead got tired of nobody greeting me or even telling me if I needed something to drink or order some food definitely when there's not a lot of customers only the bar was pretty much the seats full but that doesn't mean I don't get no green to come in or new customer coming in to order something I would get probably one more try and see how if it changes or not not I don't think I'm never going to come again but like I said the food looks great I haven't tried it I'm eager to try it but if they do I'll change the review on it other than that they only got one star for not even greeting me at all because I know every bar that I go they always greet you no matter who you are or what you come they always greet you I hope they'll change that in...

Absolutely terrible experience. Last night, my two friends and I showed up to this bar after taking a Waymo — because we were being responsible adults and didn’t want to drink and drive. When the Waymo pulled up, it had vomit on the outside of the car. Disgusting, yes — but obviously not from us. We didn’t have a choice but to take it.

We pull up to the bar and immediately get judged. The staff hears about the throw up and instantly assumes we did it. No questions. No conversation. Just pure attitude. They refused to serve us and treated us like we were some kind of drunken mess — even though we were entirely sober.

The way they handled it was unbelievably rude, unprofessional, and super embarrassing for them. Instead of taking two seconds to ask what happened, they jumped to conclusions and ignored us sitting at the bar.

If this is how they treat paying customers who go out of their way to do the right thing, then this bar doesn’t deserve anyone’s...
