I wanted so badly to give a 5 star review. And hopefully I can update soon. As neighbors to the restaurant, we have been anticipating this place for the past year and 2 months.
The hostesses were so amazing upon greeting us at the spacious entrance. Absolutely beautiful area with extra seating for waiting indoors. We had a reservation so we went to our table. Our servers were so so fantastic. Still learning the menu and drinks, but we totally understood and asked questions to help them further.
Drinks were slow and pricey. There also isn’t a happy hour menu yet (need one if we are gonna make this our Monday spot). But the drinks are beautiful! Need a fake tree frog decoration in the boxed drink ha ha! Little character makes things fun.
The food was super pricey! Second menu item listed in appetizer is $40+ (ooooffff)! We are used to free chips and salsa from the Manuel’s days but got 20 chips with our $12 chips and guac. Our main meal was good, and got cold half way through eating it. My tacos were very confusing. I didn’t know they came with soup and that was for dipping…also didn’t come with a spoon. I had to eat my tacos with a knife and fork….very mushy. Husband was okay with his fajitas but the tortillas didn’t stay soft for round two.
Overall, impressed with the new spot. Might be over priced for the pony ghetto so hopefully they make it. We will support them and also call on them the next few weeks to see if they have a happy hour menu for our weekly...
Read moreNew restaurant in the former Manuel's building. I was not impressed with my experience.
Great upscale feeling atmosphere, I'll be at a bit plain in some locations. This correlates with the limited menu and high price tags. The background music was so loud it was basically foreground music.
I ordered Bajas Tacos for $22. While the presentation was nice, the meal itself unfortunately, left a lot to be desired.
The first thing you notice is the portions are small. The greens were delicious. The soft tacos were soggy and disintegrated when you try to pick them up. It came with a bowl of tomato soup for dipping the already disintegrating tacos. The waitress claimed the fish was mahi, however I detected none of that. The flavor, if you will, was burned and charred, with a hint of spice. The tomato soup was the best part of the meal.
I would have liked to have seen a little bit more attentiveness particularly with drinks, because the glasses are small. The entree, and a glass of iced tea, came to $32 before tip, which is not justifiable in my opinion.
In closing, my time here was disappointing and frustrating. Knowing the former occupants of this building and their clientele, in the coming months, I hope Molcaxete well take this feedback to heart and try to adapt, especially in their menu. Before any of that happens, there needs to be some serious quality control.
Manuel's is at 32...
Read moreMy wife, my oldest son and I went there on Sunday. My wife got Angus fajita with rice, My son got chicken enchiladas, and I got ceviche. There is an old saying that goes you pay for what you get. The ceviche was made to perfection. Now, here is the problem my wife has been trying to duplicate their rice all week 😂😂😂 The rice literally melted in your mouth. Moreover, the fajitas, the flavor wow just wow! I’ve never tasted fajitas that good before? My wife and I kept stealing food from each other! My son on the other hand, who is the pickiest eater in the world, eat half of his enchiladas. To some, they might say he didn’t like it, but to me him eating half of anything is a victory. Long story short this is a perfect place for a first date, A second date or any type of date. It’s a great place to take your family out for dinner. It’s a great place for business meetings, luncheon, dinners. And it’s also a good place to go solo and enjoy some good food. Again, you pay for what you get. The meal was not cheap. The meal was worth every...
