I would like to start by saying I have been going to Sardellas, this location specifically for over 30 years. What happened tonight was just appalling.
I put in an online order for wings ONLY (LOVE the wings/tolerate the pizza). My friend goes to pick up the order, they don't have it, so he puts in an order and informs me when he arrives. No big deal! I call because I did pay for the wings and wanted my money back. A lady named Nina (I think) answers the phone. She tells me that my order for 'Justin' isn't there and I need to call the other store. My name is Jessica and that was the name it was under AND I am looking at the confirmation screen that has their location.
She puts Jason who identifies himself as the manager on the phone. I tried to explain the situation and he cuts me off saying we don't have that order for pizza and wings. I explain I only have wings and can I give him the confirmation number. He tells me there's no point he doesn't have the order.
At this point I tell him I'm coming in. He's adamant that I'm at the wrong location and will not listen. I need to show him the confirmation. Please keep in mind I had stayed calm and I think pleasant but obviously irritated but not acting on it. This is important because Jason began to mock me to his coworkers in a "nasty rude tone" as if I had spoke to him that way before hanging up the phone or confirming I had.
When I arrived at the store 10 min later they had all of a sudden found my order. The cashier (little older man) who had zero customer service skills just starts processing my refund. Jason just kept saying sorry especially after I advised him to properly hang up the phone before openly mocking them. By the way there were customers in the store when I got there so who knows if they were mocking me in front of other people.
UPDATE** Mike, the owner called me the next morning of leaving this review. We had a nice conversation where I truly felt like a valued customer. He assured me that a situation like this will not happen again. I will be giving them a second chance, if not for the very sweet owner, for the...
Read moreMoved here from Chicago 6 years ago, this is the pizza you need! It's taken me 6 years and finally this is my pizza joint in Phoenix. Got a sausage with extra cheese. Finally a great tasting cheese! The sausage was good also but I've been waiting for that good pizza cheese and they knocked it out of the park. Now for the amazing part of this review. I ordered through grubhub and grubhub made a mistake (another one) with the driver. There wasn't one. I called the restaurant and spoke with the owner. Grubhub cancelled the order because of driver issue and the food was already made. The owner said don't worry, I'll drop the food off at your home. I said no, that's fine, I know grubhub cancelled so you guys won't get paid. The owner said I know it's not your fault and I want to make it right for your guys. Listen to this... the owner drove to my house and dropped off my order! We had a great conversation, talked about our family, kids, and life. He told me he was all about customer service. He said we don't have enough of that. This guy is officially my best friend! Amazing, amazing, amazing. Even though the order was cancelled he still delivered the food to my home. The great tasting pizza was enough for them to be my official Friday movie night order. The service that the owner provided will have me bringing my family to the restaurant on a regular basis. I'll also be recommending them to as many pizza lovers I know. I have family from Chicago that live here in phoenix and we are always on the look out for good pizza. Well this is great pizza and even better customer service. I apologize for the long review but I was taken back by the customer service provided to even though my order was...
Read moreWe’ve been ordering from this restaurant formerly known as Sardella’s for years and loved their gluten-free pizza and wings. Usually, we order from two locations, so I was surprised when I pulled up to this one and saw a different name on the building: “Rhiana’s.” I called to check, and the owner—a nice gentleman—assured me that the recipes were the same. I placed my usual order and waited.
While waiting, the owner explained that the pizza was delayed because he had to shut down the one oven to scrub it for the gluten-free pizzas. This raised a red flag for me, as I’ve worked in pizza places before, and no one shuts down a 420-470 degree oven during a Friday night rush (he also noted that he didn't have the second oven running this evening ). Another concern was watching the owner handle the dough and pizza toppings with his bare hands. I watched him as he wiped his hands on his apron, grabbed order tickets, and then returning to the food without washing or putting on gloves. Even if hands were washed initially, touching other surfaces without re-washing increases the risk of cross-contamination.
When I got the food home, I noticed that the cheese on the pizza was uneven, with some areas having what looked like huge chunks of cheese, creating an unappealing texture. The quality of the chicken was also disappointing. While I understand that chicken can sometimes have dark spots, this quality was more like what you’d find at Walmart rather than at a place like Whole Foods or Sprouts. The pizza was nothing like the Sardella’s we know and love. If you’re looking for authentic Sardella’s, I recommend visiting one of their other locations. We wasted over $100 here and...
