The selection of meat is amazing! Tripas, lengua, chorizo, buche, carnitas, chicarones, cabeza, carne asada, and many more choices! Their cleanliness, however, is a different story. before I write about that I do want to mention that I am not a germaphob. My immune system is pretty strong and if it were before this pandemic it would not have bothered me so much. And it still doesn't bother me for myself but for others. The following now bothers me to extreme only because of the current pandemic with COVID 19. Knowing some people have a compromised immune systems. HEALTH AND SAFETY OF WORKERS AND CUSTOMERS SHOULD BE A TOP PRIORITY ANYWHERE! During my visit at Salsitas I witnessed concerning behavior coming from staff. None of the staff besides the male cook were wearing their face mask over their nose. One was not even wearing a face mask while handling food. The girl at the cash register was dealing with money then would go and help the kitchen with orders and drinks without washing hands or wearing any type of gloves. A family came in and ordered drinks. (They have a great selection on agua frescas) one of the drinks was piña colada. The employee handed the customer the drink and the drink started leaking/spilling all over the place. The plastic cup had a large crack on the side of it. Another worker takes back the drink and pours it back into the big piña colada container! I don't know if they realize that the cup had a large slit and three different people touched that cup contaminating its contents. It appeared the customer realized it and asked for a different drink as they mixed the piña colada to serve it to her in another cup. I get it, it's a small joint. and I'm sure it's easy to make connections or friendships with returning customers. But fist bumping from staff to customers? Three customers, within the hour I was there, walked over to the cook as he was preparing food w gloves on and fist bumped customers over the pixie glass. The dining room had dirty tables. There were flies on the ice cream display. The shrimp cocktail was bland, would not order again. The ceviche tostada was bomb with some mayo The (5) tacos, amazing. Ordered chorizo and tripas The Huarache was ok. it sucked that they had no forks or plastic knives only spoons. Dinner was $44. But we had leftovers After dinner we ordered fresas con crema with a scoop of ice cream. They charges $3 for one SMALL scoop of ice cream. And it's not even the good creamy kind. tasted icy. The fresas con crema was horrible! Friend Got a Mangoniada (however you spell it) it tasted like straight up tapatio. 😩😩 It wasn't even like a snow cone. Just a cylinder of ice. He said it was horrible and didn't get over the first taste and he didn't drink more. I actually got the reaction on camera after he tried it as I was trying to take a picture of my strawberries and cream. For the strawberries and the mango drink plus the ice cream it was $18 something 😯😯
Conclusion, if your health and safety is a concern, don't come here. If you have a strong immune system and you want to risk it that is up to you. I would visit again. Would not get any dessert or aguas. Id just stick to tacos and a canned or...
Read moreHealth risk. AVOID. (Long post) Never coming back. Stood in line for about 20mins to order then waited an additional 55 mins to receive food. While waiting, construction crews kept coming in by the half dozen asking for restroom. I stood there and watched for nearly an hour as people kept returning the large restroom key to the final lady prepping the meals. At no point did she ever change gloves/wash her hands after receiving dirty restroom keys and still continued to prep meals. There was like 20 people all crammed into a 150 sq ft area with seemingly no covid occupancy limit. A good third of the employees had their masks on but with their nose exposed. After waiting for nearly an hour a lady stepped up to see where my meal was. It turns out she had given it out to a crew already dining in so she went and stole it back. I already knew she was just going to "re-gift" it to me rather than make a new one. I sat there and just kept observing it until she took it out of sight. Rather than toss it amid a pandemic they decided to save a penny and put my health at greater risk. At no point in time was a fresh torta made for me because I was standing there the whole time watching the cooks making them. Yet they want to play me a fool like I didn't just see them steal it from a table already dining. To top it off during the whole hour and a half waiting no one stepped out to clean or disinfect any tables. I sat down at a table riddled with food scraps with tables that were 6 feet apart but a line of back to back patrons in...
Read moreI really don't put out detailed reviews on any specific place but this one here is very deserving of the credit they receive from anybody who compliments their business and their food. I'd have to say regardless of the language barrier these people try their best to communicate positively with all their customers and this restaurant is immaculate when it comes to cleanliness especially that within the food preparation areas I'm very comfortable eating the food here considering most other places you have to even question the temperature policies or if you're getting anything fresh but with this place everything is fresh and you sweat standing near the food itself so you know it's hot ready and safe to eat.. They go beyond that of any business when it comes to making sure that their customers are satisfied at a time that order has been made and the employees there are also super friendly making any visit a good visit and their food is just superb whether you get a carne asada fries or a full out burrito meal it's all just delicious and another thing don't forget about the tip jar these guys work long and hard to keep that store up and fresh and everybody deserves a little something when they go home maybe a beer who knows but they deserve it...
