We had a pretty poor experience for our first visit to this location. We have visited the other Sushi Sonora restaurants before and loved it, but this location struggles to put out a good product and lacks in pretty much all areas.
First, on a calm Sunday evening, it took 20 minutes for us to receive a drink order, and then another 45+ min to receive our food. Pretty slow, which is not characteristic of Sushi Sonora. All other locations have their food out in 20 min max.
The sushi balls we ordered (sushi bolas) were fried for too long - the fried batter was tough to cut through. Other deep fried items came out well though, with a nice crispy fry to them.
When a member of our party complained, the waitress looked annoyed, which admittedly any waitress would be. This is not how you handle an unhappy customer though. Long story short, that part of our group left early and we stayed, as we were satisfied enough (and hungry).
Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this location. First impressions are extremely important, and while I know that Sushi Sonora can do much much better than this, my guests that I suggested this place to cannot say the same, and will not eat at any Sushi Sonora again. If I have to apologize at the end of the meal for picking the place and not giving my invited guests a satisfactory experience, I cannot recommend it to anyone else. They make you wait for over 1 hour for a 5 minute food order. They don't get your food right. This place sucks. If you want a crappie time with the worst customer service you experience in your life go to this place. At the end of your trip to this God awfully place you will hate this place as much as I do.
And if you are a driver for any company. Expect this place to make a complaint against you for package tampering. Expect your driving company to contact you. Telling you your account has had a complaint against. Expect your driving company to not back you up. Expect your driving company to say that they aren't accusing you of nothing but they put it on your account putting it against you lieing to you.
EXPECT THAT YOU'RE ALLERGIC TO SEA FOOD. THAT IF YOU EAT IT ARE GOING TO DIE. Expect that the driving company doesn't care about your allergic sea food. The driving company won't back you up. Will falsely accused you of something you didn't do. Expect the driving company will back up the sushi Sonora. After 5 minutes of sitting, I had to ask for menus. Order to micheladas which came out to be $25, and after I finished drinking, was never asked if I needed another drink. I just sat there with an empty glass for about 10 minutes. Until I had to stop another waitress and ask for water. Our server seemed to ignore us for the most part! The ambience was poor, the staff looks like they're all depressed. They have a three-row sushi tray option that supposed to be a special, but you actually pay more than if you bought the three rolls individually. Also, after having poor service, I figured out why. They add a auto gratuity to the check which is not stated in the menu or anywhere, so the service make their tip regardless of if they do their job correctly or not.
