My sister, a family friend, and I stopped in on Saturday for a quick drink. My sister and I had never been here before, and we had just come from the Hilton Lazy River — she was wearing a swimsuit with a cover-up. As we headed to the restroom, I noticed an older woman (who we later learned was the owner) staring at us. Moments later, she barged into the restroom and demanded to see our IDs.
We’re both over 21 and don’t mind being ID’d, but the way she approached us was aggressive and unnecessary. My sister explained her ID was in the car and would grab it immediately, but the woman simply told us to get out.
Shocked, I told our friend what happened and that we had to leave — despite our drinks already being made. I even showed my ID to the bartender to confirm I’m 26, which she appreciated and wrote down. However, a heated argument broke out between the owner and our family friend outside, which had nothing to do with me or my sister.
Trying not to waste our drinks, I began finishing mine — only for the owner to come storming back in and demand I put it down. I explained we hadn’t even paid yet, but she continued to yell at me. She was clearly upset over the earlier exchange and took it out on us.
Whether she was having a bad day or not, her behavior was unprofessional and unacceptable. No one should be treated that way — especially paying customers. If you’re looking for a welcoming place to grab a drink, skip this bar and head just two minutes down the road to Aunt...
Read moreI had liked this place at one time. However the last time I was there will literally be the last time I will be there.
First off, when my friends and I arrived it kinda looked closed. So we asked (as any respectful patron would do) if they were closed. The response was less than inviting. The bar tender and patrons just laughed at us. One of them said “What does it look like?” I’m fine with a little sarcasm so we took a seat.
After ordering a drink we went to the juke box (there wasn’t music playing) and we picked out some music. Unbelievably the bar tender skipped the songs we picked out. No apology, just angry patrons scoffing our selection.
As if that wasn’t enough when last call came, we were hurried out in a horrible way. Everyone else at the bar seemed to get a pass on the last call but us. We were told 15 minutes, and within ten minutes we were being ushered out by a patron of the bar who claimed he worked there.
If the swizzle inn doesn’t want new customers they should become a...
Read moreThis place is in my neighborhood and so I visited with some frequency. How do I say this nicely...it is a dive bar and I thought a great place to go and get drunk until tonight. Tonight, I drank lightly for me and was sober when I got the bill. Quite frankly, I was shocked...so shocked I asked for an itemized bill. When I questioned the bill, the bartender explained I had bought a drink for woman who next to us and was the bartenders friend. I thought about it but I did not buy her a drink. Secondly there were other items on the bill which the bartender did not explain and which had no explanation. I had 3 Makers Marks and bought the friend who had bought me a drink earlier 5 Bud Lights. The bill was $52. Ridiculous for a dive bar. I am quite certain the bartender ripped me off but I wasn't going to make a scene. I recommend avoiding this bar unless you like...
