Checked out Tatemados today with a friend, fully expecting a casual taco run—and left in a full-on love affair with mesquite smoke, melted cheese, and possibly the man working the register.

The moment we stepped through the doors, we were smacked (in the best way) with that warm, smoky mesquite scent that wraps around your senses and whispers, “You’re about to make some very good decisions.” And if the smell didn’t already have me entranced, the cashier certainly did. Tall, built like he could carry me and my emotional baggage, with a Spanish accent smoother than the queso on my quesabirria. I was drooling—over the tacos, obviously. Obviously.

The food? Chef’s kiss, but like, with tongue. The shrimp tacos were grilled to perfection—plump, juicy, and kissed by that smoky char that makes you believe in magic again. And the quesabirria? Rich, cheesy, and dripping in all the right ways. I may or may not have moaned at the table. No regrets.

Between the cozy patio vibes, the staff who clearly know what they’re doing, and the kind of food that makes you cancel dinner plans because you’re still full at 7pm… Tatemados is that spot. The kind you almost don’t want to tell people about because you want to keep it all to yourself.

But I’m a giver. So go. And when you do, get the tacos… and maybe his number.

I’ll definitely be back....

I’ve passed by Tatemados Tacos Al Carbon a few times and finally decided to stop in for lunch and I’m really glad I did. I was craving Mexican food, and this spot hit the mark.

There’s something special about tacos al carbon, and you can really taste it here. That mesquite flavor stands out in the best way, it’s smoky, bold, and instantly takes you to that backyard cookout vibe.

I ordered the carne asada burrito, which came with rice and beans inside just how I grew up eating them! It’s not like the usual taco shop that just loads up meat, guac, and salsa. This burrito felt authentic, hearty, and packed with flavor.

I paired it with an horchata, and it was the perfect combo. Refreshing and smooth with just the right amount of sweetness.

If you’re in downtown Phoenix and in the mood for real Mexican food with deep flavor, I definitely recommend checking out Tatemados. I’ll be back for sure!

TATEMADOS TACOS AL CARBÓN 🔥🌮

If you’re looking for a truly mouthwatering experience, Tatemados Tacos al Carbón is THE place to be. We tried their famous bacon roll stuffed with carne asada, and from the very first bite, we knew — this isn’t just a taco. It’s a full-on flavor explosion.

The carne asada is perfectly grilled, juicy, and packed with that irresistible smoky touch from the charcoal. Wrapped in crispy bacon, every bite is a perfect blend of texture and taste. It’s unforgettable.

But what really takes it to the next level are the salsas. Each one has its own personality — from smooth and creamy to bold and spicy. Honestly, we couldn’t pick a favorite because they were all insanely good!

The vibe is chill, the service is excellent, and the food… a total hidden gem. This place isn’t just about eating — it’s about enjoying a full experience. 🤤🔥

✨ 100% recommended 📍A must-try if you’re a...

We have driven by this location a few times in the past 3 months and today was the day we decided to eating out. Staff was friendly. The pricing was great. At $3.99 per pollo asado tacos was a well served protein amount. I enjoyed the carne asada plate tatemados style. I had a healthy portion of skirt steak that was cooked medium well. That’s how I prefer it and a whole Anaheim roasted green chile with delicious melted cheese(queso). Rice and beans and about 10 small corn tortillas round out the perfect meal. Salsa bar was fresh and loaded. The guacamole was excellent and fresh. But do watch out for the “hot” red salsa. Man, it was delicious but true to the warnings that it is Sspiccyy .. 🤪 A large Hortacha drink sealed the meal and tempered the spiciness. Weather was great today for outside dining. Parking is limited but available on the streets. I highly recommended for great tacos and an affordable meal.
