Though I live in the Valley, I work in and out of the Bay area and downtown San Francisco and had often wondered about The Melt. The pictures look so good and the descriptions read so delicious. I was expecting amazing. But it was average at best. I love a good patty melt and I thought given the description that included Wagyu beef, that I was in for a real treat. It was less than average at best. The meat was bland (I had to put salt and pepper on it to give it any taste), the onions had no flavor (how is THAT possible?) the sandwich warm at best, the fries cold. And considering the menu said hot fries...I expected just that. (I wonder if the cooks know that the menu section of fries reads "Hot Fries"?) Mind you, I took the order to go, and had just driven off when I reached into the bag to pull out a "hot" fry, only to pull out a cold limp potato thing. At that point, I thought, let me check the patty melt. Also...lukewarm, only 1 minute from pick-up. I would have turned around and returned, but I had to get back to work for a call. Now, for $15 plus dollars, no drink, I expect a better than average sandwich and fries. It was not to be. I instantly regretted not going to Habit Burger like I originally intended. With a name like The Melt...you expect just that...hot melted goodness, crispy hot fries like advertised. Basically, none of what was advertised was delivered. The restaurant was not busy, only one table, but in all fairness, it was well after peak lunch hour. Parking a bit of hassle, but the area is still a work in progress with lots of construction. So perhaps parking will improve. The fast food burger business has lots of competition. A true patty melt deserves rye bread...it's what gives it, its kick. This patty melt was less than nothing special. Again, with a name like The Melt.... The Patty MELT...should be the bomb! Instead, it just bombed. For the price of this meal, I wouldn't go back or recommend and will definitely avoid when I am in the Bay area. Ugh. What a...
Read moreWe rented an AirBNB in the area and wanted to get some good food and this popped up. We walked in and everything is very clean, they didn’t appear upset at seeing our massive crew coming in. They were very polite and patient and explained the menu when asked about items. I have to say their Snickerdoodle shake was a religious experience, I would come back for that alone, but they also had amazing burgers (very fatty but in the best way possible), Mac n cheese (I got the chicken garlic bacon and it was so rich and flavorful, it comes with a pickle which gives a nice offset to the richness), and amazing chocolate chip cookies. My sister got the salad and she says it was amazing. No one had any complaints other than it being a little messy to eat, so make sure to grab lots of napkins. They’re opening more locations so I’m keeping an eye for one closer to the east valley area. Vicente came over to ask us how we were doing and to see how we felt and chat with us a bit. Very friendly and amazing service, will be looking for any excuse to come back.
Updated: I went back just for the snickerdoodle shake and ended up trying their bacon ranch cheddar fries and they were delicious. When I walked in after ordering I could see my fries and shakes being made fresh. Best after...
