So good. Omigosh. It really is great Colombian food.

The bandeja paisa is my usual order, and there's just nothing to complain about except maybe that I always get super full from it yet somehow find myself wanting to eat even more at the same time. If you get it, make sure you add a fried egg on top as well. GOLD. I've also tried their bistec a la criolla, which was also superb. I believe it's skirt steak, which isn't known for its tenderness but for its flavor, and this dish delivered on that. That, coupled with their sauce, made this dish another easy favorite in my book. As for their side dishes, you can't go wrong with their pandebono. It can't get any better than when it's fresh and steaming with all that soft texture. I usually order a few extra to go so that I can toast them back up for breakfast the next day. They only have buñuelos on the weekends, and they sell out pretty quickly from what they tell me (I've shown up for "We've already run out" a few times before I got smart and headed there in the morning). But the trip is worth it. When it's fresh, it's got a really nice crust that gives way to a beautiful texture inside. There's also yuca frita, which kind of speaks for itself. Their jugos are also great. I get jugo de guanábana most of the time, but jugo de mamey is easily my second favorite. Guanábana (soursop) has tangy(?) flavor that I like year-round, but it's especially perfect for the summer. Mamey is hard to nail down... It's described as having hints of pumpkin, honey, cacao, vanilla, and almond. It's really difficult to explain, so I simply say that it tastes like fall, which is when I like to order it.

Lastly, the people there are super sweet. I speak to them using the dredges of my AP Spanish, but they're always patient and...

More that a decade as a client. I love the service, the people, the food. Caro and Mario are really nice and humble. The stuff really nice, the price really fair. Between all the Colombian restaurant that I have visit, the SAZON, the test is always really good and one of the best to treat the clients ,the other ones must the time one of the stuff offer a bad answer, confront the client, or think that as owners they treat the people as they want. El Molinito, never, never I had seen a customer mad or disappointed or being rude. I really like and support this restaurant as a good representation ...

When I was most in need of food, I found El Molinito. They spoke to me in Spanish and because I only speak limited Spanish, we met right in the middle. I tried the signature dish: bandeja paisa. Wow. I’ve never seen so many types of food on one plate. I ate the entire thing because I was famished and because it was some of the best food I’d had. I watched the Lakers/Warriors game and drank my lemon water. Gracias, El Molinito.

🇨🇴 COLOMBIA (via Eat the World Los Angeles) - If your fellow breakfast diners are not enjoying dishes with eggs, they will probably have a tamal tolimense ($8.25) in front of them. This style of tamal is from the high altitude Andean department of Tolima, but has become popular throughout the country and in expat communities abroad. It packs a high calorie punch for breakfast, usually the heartiest meal in Colombia.
