The Birria Shack — Restaurant in Pico Rivera

I’ve had a couple of disappointing experiences at The Birria Shack, but my recent experience was the last straw. I've previously ordered chilaquiles for breakfast and as someone who likes spicy food I found them to be so extremely spicy to the point of being unenjoyable. Despite this, I decided to give them another try and went there last night.

We ordered two carne asada burritos and a horchata, but was sorely disappointed. The burritos were almost entirely rice and cheese with barely any meat, and what little meat there was it was either hard or too chewy it was practically inedible. For the price, I expected a lot more.

To top it off, the horchata was incredibly grainy, as if they scrapped up the last bit from the bottom of the container. It also took forever to get our food. I would have been more forgiving if the food was fresh, but there was nothing fresh about those burritos. Very...

I decided to come here for dinner last night and was this a great decision! I had the QuesaTacos Dorados Special and my husband had the Grill Cheese Birria. It was simply delicious and filling. My daughter tried one of my tacos and ate the whole thing, which is rare unless she loves the taste! She kept saying how delicious it was! We all agree! I wish there were more around California. I had the pleasure of talking to the owner and her father who was having dinner there! It was truly a pleasant and delicious experience! The service was exceptional, extremely content. I highly recommend this place, I’m sure you’ll keep coming...

I love coming here since I live right around the corner, it’s just a quick walk. The food is always great, especially their birria quesatacos! However I was a bit disappointed today with my order. I ordered the “dorados combo” which comes with comes with two birria quesatacos, rice & beans, and a drink. But I didn’t get any queso in my birria tacos. It was just two birria dorados. I’ve ordered this combo many times before and never had any issues so I am a little disappointed cause I know the combo includes the quesatacos. Nonetheless, I will still be coming here, but I guess i’ll just have to...
